California Drought - Disaster
We need to start planting the future
● Est 9.7 million Californian Lawns. ● Grass Lawns account for 50% of
residential water use in California● This amounts to about 2-5% of
total state water usage.● A 25%-75% conversion to CA
natives reaches the state’s 1.6 million acre feet.
Changing Attitudes● In last four years CA spent $300 million and transitioned less than 1%
of lawns. We need to think differently. ● We want to help by making children’s entertainment that teaches about
conservation and ecological stewardship.● Pioneer Pete’s Parables -
○ A story book and an interactive resource management game.○ Partner with nonprofits, education groups, utility companies, and
water agencies to promote water conservation in the K-6 ages.○ Our target audience are the 3.4 million CA students in K-6 grades.○ Our target partners are nonprofits such as Water Education
Foundation and the Southern California Water Committee who have already agreed to help promote a finished book.
