Local Context
Three distinct areas:
• North Kirklees – large Towns Dewsbury,
Batley
• Huddersfield - the largest town in
Kirklees with about 137,000 residents
• South Kirklees - small towns such as
Holmfirth, Slaithwaite and Denby Dale.

Supporting people to do more
for themselves….. No set Criteria and open to individuals - in 2014 It’s Up To You took place across 8
neighbourhoods and provided a platform for:
50 ideas to come forward
624 people took part in voting
40 of these were successful to a total of £17,243 allocated
1,350 people engaged through the projects and ideas as a result
In 2015/16….
Rolled out across Kirklees:
20 events held so far with over £40,000 being allocated to over 200 projects led by local people
Developing PB model for District Committees to assist Cllrs in setting local priorities
