Hot Tapping & Plugging Solutions

Hot tapping & plugging is a procedure that creates a new pipeline connection

while the pipeline remains in service. The procedure involves attaching a branch

connection and valve on the outside of an operating pipeline, then cutting out the

pipeline wall within the branch and removing the wall section through the valve.

STOPPLE® Plus fittings are full-branch split tees

furnished with the LOCK-O-RING® Plus completion plug.

A LOCK-O-RING® Plus completion plug installed in a compatible STOPPLE® Plus fitting permits

removal of the tapping valve. Once all tapping equipment is removed, a blind flange is installed on

the fitting, making it a part of the pipeline. Reentry into the line at a future date is usually possible

by removing the blind flange and completion plug.

TDW provides cold cutting & beveling as a convenient,

add-on service for our customers, anytime pipe sections

are replaced during hot tapping and plugging operations.

Standard sizes range from 4” to 24” OD pipe, but TDW can

provide cold cutting & beveling services on piping up to

43” OD. Minimize the number of contractors on-site and let

your trained TDW technician perform your cold cutting &

beveling requirements.

Cold Cutting & Beveling

TDW capabilities also serve all aspects of integrity

management. Our pipeline preparation, assessment

and rehabilitation services will keep you up and running throughout the

inspection phase, in keeping with industry standards.

Once your pipeline has been internally inspected, TDW offers a variety

of assessment services. Reports for inline and hydrostatic testing

inspection are provided, and may be utilized for your pipeline integrity

program documentation. Following assessment, any anomalies in the

pipeline can be repaired using our rehabilitation products and services.

The flexible alternative to repair clamps, welded

sleeves and pipe replacement, RES-Q® Composite

Wrap for process piping systems was created

specifically for refineries and power plants experiencing

internal or external corrosion, galvanic corrosion, weld

defects and more.

Made with stronger, temperature resistant composite

materials, RES-Q® Composite Wrap utilizes a stitched,

bidirectional carbon fabric to provide superior structural

reinforcement in the hoop and axial directions.

The carbon fabric and two-part epoxy resin of

RES-Q® Composite Wrap create a monolithic

composite capable of repairing pipes operating

up to 271° F (132º C).

TDW steel repair sleeves allow repairs to take place without shutting

down piping systems and are designed and manufactured in accordance

with Article 2.6 of ASME PCC-2. Available in a variety of sizes from

2- through 48-inch, sleeves can be used for internal and external

corrosion, gouges, dents, grooves, arc burns, cracks, defective girth

welds, laminations and leaks. Sold in the half-sole configuration, sleeves

can be used as a pad, cradle, or a pair of sleeve segments can be

used to create a full-encirclement steel sleeve. Girth weld steel repair

sleeves are sold only as sets of two half-sole segments.

Freeze Plugging Solutions

Steel Repair Sleeves

TDW freeze plugging services allow necessary piping system maintenance

or modification to take place without shutting down vital segments of your

system. Our process involves establishing a solid freeze plug, then maintain-

ing and monitoring the plug for the duration of the project – all of which is

analyzed and coordinated with the project engineer.

TDW freeze plugging services are performed by experienced technicians,

trained to your standards in refinery, chemical and nuclear applications.

Our freeze plugs are designed to withstand up to 8,000 psi

(560 bar) line pressure, or 225,000 pounds (1,001,250N)

of force, and our certified procedures ensure quality

control throughout the pipe freezing operation. Pipe

materials acceptable for freeze plugging include:
