Information security enforced by quantum technologies toward redundant and robust security in EVs and their manufacturing

Challenges and objectives

Provide long-term security creating quantum-safe infrastructures and devices.

• Generate Quantum key distribution system in view ofsoftware/firmware wired updates and wireless remoteupdates. In general, we can consider two different types ofdevices and architectures:

• Quantum key distribution between electric vehicle andauthorized chargers. The quantum key distribution suppliesthe vehicle with fresh keys to be used for authentication andencryption of data exchange between operator/manufacturer.The charger networks need to be designed with an internalsecurity architecture.

• Internal network protection of all critical modules in thevehicle that makes possible to sign and encrypt allexchanged data. It helps to form an on-board protectednetwork.

• New QKD protocols and optical schemes maximally optimizedfor miniaturization and cost reduction need to be developedwith in mind their integration with industrial electronics.

Technical goals• Develop fiber and wireless devices for remote

updates

• Assuring redundancy in security

• Developed miniature easy to deploy devices
