a quick way to assess the costs of studying in different countries

another project of Zostan Studentem, a startup based in Krakow, Poland

Since 2011 among

other things*:

We have been running three websites(Ukrainian, Russian and Belarusian)about studying in Poland and regularly attending student fairs in those countries

We have launched a platform dedicated to Polish students who would like to study in the UK.

We have made a uni comparison website which makes it easier to work

out student living costs, tuition fees, scholarships available at universities

in Poland and find an Erasmus - exchange city.

According to Forbes Magazine, the cost of study abroad was cited as the single largest non-academic deterrent among students

Universityworldnews.com notes that uncertainty about additional costs, personal relationships and lack of financial resources are mentioned by the non-mobile students as the main rationale for not going abroad

Cost of study - how it works now A student from India wants to do a BA in Finance/Economics abroad (loves Prague but also adores Italy) but doesn’t know what the cost is:

1. Student goes to Charles Uni website and Google searches for

studies in Italy - checks tuition fees per year, scholarships*,

accommodation price* *(usually not on uni website)

2. Then search on Google for living costs in different

countries.

3. Then opens another tab to search for scholarships.

4.And again another tabto find visa costs

5. Now he needs to add the costs and try to work out the overall price of study in each country

1. He goes on to Study Calculator website.

2. He then fills in the form, marking his study and lifestyle preferences. Not all field’s are required which makes results

more flexible.

3. Study Calculator shows universities matched exactly to individual’s needs.

Results might be filltred by many factors.

Underlying magicStudents can select programs that match their pocketbooks as well as meet their academic and personal goals.

Universities which buy Study Calculator’s subscription (via PayPal or credit card) will have their own admin panel,

where they can add:

• address and contact data• courses and their prices

• scholarships• recruitment info

• photos• uni summary

• accommodation and facilities • and make their own contact

or admissions form

For each study abroad course, Study Calculator will produce “cost sheets” which will add up all anticipated expenses, including transport costs

and personal spending money.

Estimated costs - 6 months, year, 3 years - a student can easily calculate the amount of his bank loan (if he requires it)

the askWe are seeking 200 000$ which will enable us to develop our website, start a marketing campaign, maintain company blogs

as well as social media platforms and also to start mobile apps.

We expect to provide an exit within 3 years by the profit from university subscriptions.

At the moment, Study Calculator is idea only, but based on our existing Polish website: Comparing Universities and our

experience with student recruitment.

Soon we will be launching beta version with basic features.
