Hello Ladies. Our March meeting took an unexpected turn with our Chefs no longer employed at the
Elks. Our corned beef & cabbage lunch was prepared by Vikki Isham and Cathy Straub. And what a
fantastic meal was served! Kudos to the ladies for a fine job.
Our guest speaker was Sandy Graham who brought several examples of the fine jewelry she creates
using stones, wood & glass. She was well received & many ladies took advantage of her creations and
made purchases right on the spot. Thank you Sandy.
Our next meeting will be the Installation of New Officers on Friday, April 10th. This is always an
elegant affair as the new officers light their respective candles while being sworn in. There will be a
great lunch served so you won't want to miss it.
I have enjoyed writing these articles for the newsletter, keeping our ladies informed of the happenings
of our Club. I hope to see most of you at the installation.
Respectfully submitted & farewell.

Meet the Paradise Elks Lodge Executive Chef David Sypnicki has been a chef/owner of two businesses in the last several years,
one a high-end catering company in the Wine country and the other a resort area
restaurant in Graeagle called the Aspen Grill. David achieved his Culinary
Apprenticeship at Caffe Mingo in Oregon which received the Restaurant of The
Year award in 1997.
With his expertise in catering and banquets and cooking at a busy lunch and
dinner establishment we feel David is a perfect fit for all of our business needs.
He is personable, and brings plenty of passion to the table to create new menus and a fresh new taste
and feel to our lunch and dinner menus. Both David and I are committed to creating quality, fresh food
and eye-appealing presentations to increase member satisfaction as well as proudly serve the best food
on the Ridge.
With that said, April 1st we will be rolling out a new lunch menu. Until then, Tuesday
and Friday lunch will have a few core items and David will be serving new items that
are his specialties to see how they are received as we move toward building a new
menu. The menu offerings will be on the board in the Memberʼs Bar every Tuesday and
Friday so stop in and see what's new, I promise you won't be disappointed!
Respectfully submitted, Cathy Straub

Note from the kitchen: Hello Lodge Members!
We have been diligently searching for a good fit for our new kitchen staff. A decision has been made and we feel
good about moving forward. Please be patient during this transition as we take the Lodge to a new and different level. I ask that all Lodge members respect our business decisions and trust that we have you in mind. Expect
great things and they will happen. During this phase we need to ask you to back off just a bit, let the chef take the
reins and let him do it, there is nothing worse for a brand new person than hearing “ that’s the way we've always done it”, we will also be enforcing our Employees Only in the kitchen policy. I think we have great promise, I
believe it’s possible. We need to work together and we will Rock the Ridge! Tom Drake

money is spent. The income percentages are based on the 2014/15 income of $174,000 and the expense percentages on
expenses of $188,500. In other words, we spent $14,500 more than we took in this year.

Seeing as this is to be my first article as your ER, I want to say...
Hello my brothers and sisters of Elkdom. Our Officers and I are embarking on a new year for our
Lodge and hope to make you proud of our work and progress.
We will be trying to make our Lodge self-sufficient and take the
financial load off the membership. We will be making changes in the things we do and how we do them in an attempt to realize our goal of paying our way as we go
and profiting without draining our members pocketbooks.
I will need input and cooperation from all the members
and Officers to make anything work. We have a website, email, a Facebook page, and a suggestion box available to all. Use it and elaborate on what you would like to see us
accomplish. But, remember it takes more than an idea to get something done. We also need volunteers and support
from our membership.
Time for me to get off my soapbox and just
give you the best I have and the incentive to make this Lodge better by being hands-on.
Jim McMillen, ER Lodge #2026
