Results
• Employees: 385 engineers/staff at present, expected to grow to 400+ by end of 2004 and 500+ in 2005/beyond. Polish staff are dedicated & highly motivated.
• Type of Work Done: from system architecture to maintenance on line/customer support for third generation digital cellular telephony networks (CDMA 1, CDMA-1X, CMDA 2000, UMTS).
– New projects associated with TETRA, European Radio Communications Systems for public safety services.
• Quality of Product: In Jan ‘02 achieved highest possible “CMM Level 5” rating from US-based Software Engineering Institute.
• Additional Points:– No problems getting prototype hardware across Polish borders (not the
case in countries further east)

Advice to those considering investments in Poland
• Investigate major cities besides Warsaw that have international airports & excellent universities
• Remember to:– Select the right local person to get you through the start up
process– Select the right expat manager to build a best in class
organization– Introduce world class objectives and procedures immediately
(go for SEI Level 5 from day one)– Be prepared for the unexpected and build this into your
investment schedule (e.g. sudden economic downturns)– Don’t hesitate to ask government officials for help but go early– Be flexible/think win/win
