WIRELESS SURVEY
Are you encountering issues with wireless performance across your premises?Do you need to provide segregated network connections for different user groups?Do you need greater flexibility in your network? Wireless networks were once only implemented where needed but, in recent years, have become the norm for most businesses. Overlaying a wireless network on top of the traditional wired network gives businesses ultimate flexibility in their working practices. Catering to all connection requirements, a wireless network also enables separate corporate/guest network demands.
We offer a full wireless survey and implementation service, using fully industry-compliant hardware and surveying equipment to deliver a comprehensive survey report.
SERVICE DESCRIPTION
A wireless survey begins with securing an understanding of the reason for the survey and the customer’s desired outcomes. Floor plans will be collected for all the spaces to be surveyed and fed into our professional survey application. The survey itself can then be tailored to meet the customer’s needs and worked through on site.
Based on Cisco/Dell access points, we will produce a report detailing the key information required by the customer. This may vary from identifying areas of weak or no signal within an existing network, to a full survey for a new wireless deployment or replacement.
Using heat maps and user density, the report will clearly display the results of the survey and make recommendations accordingly.
ENGAGEMENT TIMESCALE & DELIVERABLES
A single-site wireless survey typically requires a 2-day engagement, to be split between on and off-site activities. Larger sites or sites spanning multiple locations will need to be quoted separately. Please contact us with your requirements.

COMPUTE / DESKTOP VIRTUALISATION ASSESSMENT
Looking to move to a Virtualised Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) platform? Encountering performance and stability issues on your existing virtualised desktop platform?Unhappy with your original choice of VDI and looking to migrate to an alternative VDI solution?
In order to deliver a smooth user and application experience, a desktop virtualisation deployment relies on many components including desktops, networking, a database server, a profile server, applications and more. A single failure anywhere in the structure can significantly impact performance and user satisfaction. Without holistic visibility across these connected components, root cause diagnosis in VDI environments can become a daunting task.
We offers a number of Desktop Virtualisation Assessments to help guide you through the process. Accelerating problem identification and resolution, these assessments also help to build the business case for your IT investment, optimising your ROI through improved productivity and user satisfaction.
5 VDI solutions are not a new technology but they, like everything, can become tired and cease to meet
your business needs as your requirements evolve and
grow.
BENEFITS
z Accurately determine current wireless status (if applicable)
z Ensure all requirements for the new wireless network have been considered and receive recommendations accordingly
z Tailor the survey to your needs. (e.g. advanced signal testing, download rates etc)
z Remove uncertainty in designing a new wireless network solution
CUSTOMER PREREQUISITES
The prerequisites for the installation are listed in appendix 1.0. Please ensure each of these is satisfied prior to the installation date. N.B. The assessment license key will be sent to you prior to the install date.

VMWARE VSPHERE OPTIMISATION ASSESSMENT
Do you know what workloads you have running and where? Are you aware which of your virtual machines are over or under provisioned with resources?Do you know much capacity remains within your virtual infrastructure?Do you know when will this capacity run out? Businesses around the globe and across all sectors have realised the benefits of server virtualisation in reducing operational costs and increasing the agility of IT provision. According to the Gartner Group, 2015 saw more than 80% of server workloads running on a virtual platform, up from 19% in 2009.
Along with the benefits of consolidated workloads, virtualised environments have provided opportunities for additional virtual servers, services and development environments. These have also seen exponential growth, driven largely by their ease of provision.

DATA CENTRE CABLING ASSESSMENT & REMEDIATION
Multiple technical engineers, customers, standards and organic growth of your IT infrastructure can lead to many IT challenges, especially the lack of a fully understood cable and patching management solution. With our Data Centre Cabling Assessment service, we can unravel the cabling chaos and physically replace it with a managed, documented and labelled cabling solution. Poorly cabled racks dramatically increase the risk of extended outage and often increase device failure through overheating resulting from poor air flow.
SERVICE DESCRIPTION Our DC cabling assessment service offers our experts with years of experience in DC solutions to review the existing cabling alongside any current documentation held. They will be able to work with you to define an approach to replace and mitigate the cabling issues. This service will help you understand the risks in your environment and to decide if you wish to mitigate IT risk by engaging us to implement new cabling, top and tail labelling and documentation for each of your racks.

CONSULTATIVE DESIGNInvesting in new technology may feel like a gamble, with questions such as “is this the correct technology for me?” or “will this technology still be valid in 2 years’ time?” keeping you up at night, but these are decisions which every business needs to take to move forwards.
We can alleviate the risk associated with IT change and help you understand the reality of new technologies in relation to your business. Our Technical Consultants can lead you through the decision-making process, beginning with an understanding of your aspirations, budget and current infrastructure over a 3 to 5 year period.
Considering long term requirements is essential in enabling our consultants to understand and ensure that the first phase is suitable to enable the longer term objective. From here, they will architect a solution that delivers on all your technical requirements and prepares your business for the future.
By demonstrating recommended technologies or consultative strategies to you, our Technical Consultants, together with our broader services capabilities, will give you the confidence you need to drive your IT strategy forward.
As part of this engagement, a detailed design document will be completed along with, if required, outline hardware and services pricing to deliver these needs.
18
Expert technological advice and full solution design to deliver on your technical
requirements and drive your IT strategy forwards.
DISCUSS YOUR REQUIREMENTS Get in touch to discuss your design requirements. Please consider the following questions in order to help our engineers determine the approach, size and scope of your project.

21 PRE-STAGINGNetwork installation can be a time consuming and costly process. Pre-staging allows for networks to be built and configured in a safe and isolated environment where prescribed and customer remote connected tests can be carried out prior to installation. This means faults can be eliminated, customisations implemented and experience gained, reducing installation time on site.
With the flexibility to try different physical layouts, software configurations, stress testing and failure scenarios, customers are able to mitigate risk before the network goes live.
We can also provide dedicated technical support to supplement your engineers or to help you build your configurations.
PRE-STAGING SERVICES
FAILURE AND STRESS TESTINGWe have dedicated network testers in-house that can be used to deliver traffic load and high levels of routing information into the test network to see how it performs under extreme or unfavourable conditions which may occur as a result of heavy network traffic, process loading, under-clocking, over-clocking and maximum requests for resource utilisation.
CAPACITY PLANNINGWe can test the maximum capacity of your network system to enable you to plan for the changing demands of your organisation.
ENGINEER TRAININGOur pre-staging centre offers a safe, hands-on training environment for engineers and allows them to become familiar with the products before the system is rolled out. INTEROPERABILITY TESTINGWe can provide access to additional network hardware so you can see how your new infrastructure operates alongside more legacy equipment.
CONTINGENCY PLANNING We can introduce faults and failures into the system. Whilst these would hopefully never be seen in the live environment, testing them in the pre-staging environment means contingency plans can be put in place. VIRTUAL SERVER ENVIRONMENTVMware can be provided allowing you to use images of your own servers to see how they perform within the new network.
Our dedicated pre-staging facility allows us to build and
test customer networks in a safe environment prior to installation, eliminating any
faults and providing technical support before the system
goes live.
BENEFITS z Pre-build and test networks prior to
installation
z Full testing of proposed network designs
z Sandbox environment to test ‘what if’ scenarios and performance under load
z Refine configurations before the network goes live when they become harder to change
z A safe and hands-on environment for engineer training
z Pre-configure equipment
z Reduce onsite installation time

TRAININGInvesting in new technology is a necessary activity for all businesses but considerations should not stop at vendor choice and performance.
Training your team in new technologies is essential to maximising your return on investment. Educating your technical teams to better understand the new systems and their operation enables them to be more effective, more quickly and to deliver the expected level of technical competence.
Failure to address the technical ability within your business can impact job satisfaction, system performance and business agility, whereas well-trained teams are fully equipped to operate at a high and often improved level of performance.
ENGAGEMENT PROCESS
ON-SITE CLASSES AND TESTINGWe can deliver certified training on-site at your premises to save you travel time and subsistence expenses. Typically we train between 4 and 12 delegates at a time and use remote labs for practical sessions.
We can also arrange a mobile authorised Pearson VUE test centre to come to your premises to test a number of delegates. We can test up to six people at a time and organize all of the test vouchers too. This service is especially attractive when scheduled at the end of an on site course as it improves pass rates.
GAP ANALYSISWorking with your technical staff, we can produce a ‘gap analysis’ to identify what training is required and propose a range of solutions.
CUSTOM TRAINING COURSESWe can adopt a completely modular approach to certified training so that you can pick and mix the topics that are relevant to you and your team and create your own bespoke training course to address your specific skills gap.
We can also produce tailored workshops based around the equipment you purchase from us to ensure your engineers are fully up to speed on all new systems.

APPENDICIES1.0 END USER COMPUTE / DESKTOP VIRTUALISATION ASSESSMENT PREREQUISITES
DATABASEThe database server should be configured and communicating on the network. For environments where we are monitoring 2000 end points or less, we can use the bundled SQL Express.
Where more than 2000 end points are to be monitored, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or newer should be installed prior to the SysTrack install appointment. In SQL TCP should be enabled. Both Windows & SQL authentication are required. The SysTrack database should be created and the recovery model set to ‘Simple’. In order to use the SysTrack reporting tools (such as SysTrack Dashboard) and SQL Server Reporting Services reports, a Reporting User Account needs to be set up. This should be a Windows domain account with database owner permissions (not a SQL or SA account). Password policy for the domain user account must be disabled so that the password does not change and will never expire. If monitoring non-persistent pooled desktop installations, a full install of Microsoft SQL Server is required, regardless of the number of end points to be monitored.
SYSTRACK MASTER SERVERThe server should be configured, communicating on the network and able to communicate with the database server. The server CANNOT be a domain controller. In SQL TCP should be enabled.
The server should be Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 (64-bit), Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1, Microsoft Windows Server 2012, Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 or greater.
The server should be pre-installed with:
z Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 z Silverlight 5.0 z Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 (Full) z Microsoft .NET 4.6
z AppFabric 1.1 for Windows Server 64-bit
The server MUST NOT have IIS installed.
The SysTrack installation package should be downloaded, unzipped and placed on the Master System (download details will be sent with the license key prior to the install date).
The license key should be available (this will be sent prior to the install date)
The Local Administrator account needs to install the software The Master System should be verified as in the same domain as the Child Systems, or that 2-way trust exists between the master and child domains. CHILD SYSTEMSChild Systems should be Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3 or later, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server 2012 R2.
File and printer sharing must be enabled on each Child System and a user account credential defined with proper rights in order for the agent to be installed on the Child System.
When Symantec Anti-Virus exists on the Child System, file and printer sharing must be enabled in the anti-virus application. If the Child Systems do not have the same domain as the Master System, a two way trust must exist. Once the SysTrack Agent is installed, it will automatically add rules for TCP/UDP port 57632 to the windows firewall on the child system. If a different firewall is used, the customer is responsible for adding an exception for TCP/UDP port 57632, once installation is completed, so the SysTrack Tools can connect to the child systems.
