Planning of my music magazine

Working Title• The music magazine I am planning is going to have the title

“Beat”• Beat is simple and easy for the audience to remember. The meaning

behind the title is that the beat in a song is really important, and also the readers will connect the magazine to music.

Genre • The genre of my magazine will be pop. Out from the survey my

average audience is between 16-19 years and most of them preferred pop music.

Cover price and issue frequency• Since my audience mostly are students the price for my magazine will

be £2.90 to hopefully make it affordable for everyone. • “Beat” is going to be published once a month. This is to make sure

that it is a magazine of high quality, also most of the people who took my survey read music magazines monthly or less…

Audience• My aim is to focus on teenagers who loves music and to produce

issues that interest them. I interviewed three students at York college and all of them had something in common. They had slightly different taste in music which is a good thing, so instead of just focus on one genre I am going to have something that interest different type of people, but the pop genre is going to be the main theme. Also, as shown in my survey most of my audience are girls so the design and articles is going to be more towards the female gender.

The typical Beat reader loves music more than anything and enjoy using money on concerts and festivals. They are always having a good time out with load music that they can dance and sing to. Most of them are females who have a very busy schedule and they love to have much going on. Beat readers are into different genres and likes to update their Spotify list often to find the newest and hottest music. They are flexible and fun and is usually to find in the spotlight with fashionable clothes and their phone ready to capture the moment. Even though they are fun people they are still sophisticated and enjoys it simple but still stylish.

Quotes from Beat readers: “When I listen to music it makes me happy…” “I listen to music as often as I can and it really affects my mood”“Music makes me feel better and it also helps me concentrate”
