The Plant Maintenance Group (PMG)exists to provide aftermarket support, field ser-vices and repair capabilities for American-MarshPump product and products of other manufac-turers. We understand the diversity in installedequipment that exists at the job site and ourfocus has been to support our customers wher-ever possible.The acquisition costs of purchased equipment

is only a very small part of the overall costsassociated with equipment ownership. The costsof maintaining equipment can vary greatlydepending on how the equipment is installed,monitored and maintained over its lifetime. Ifproper procedures are followed at each step inthe process, costs can be drastically reducedover the equipment life. Conversely, if the sameequipment is not maintained properly dramaticincreases in operation costs and downtime willoccur. The goal of the Plant MaintenanceGroup is to minimize downtime and increaseoverall system efficiency.Our Plant Maintenance Group field engineers

have the equipment needed to take care of yourequipment throughout the entire process. Frominstallation, start-up, commissioning, monitor-ing and preventative maintenance our field ser-vice professionals will make sure you are operat-ing your equipment properly. PMG Services - Test Lab Capabilities

Test lab capabilities significantly define what exactly a company is capable of producing. Ifyou cannot test the product you manufacture then you are only offering the customer a partial solution.American-Marsh's test lab capability far exceeds

the labs of many of our competitors. Our test facility is used to test product (witnessed or non-witnessed) for a variety of Industrial, Municipal & Commercial projects that we specialize in.The ability to test for flow, pressure, horsepower, NPSHr, sound pressure level and vibration make this a very powerful tool.The entire test facility is ISO 9001:2015, ISO

17025 & full Factory Mutual certified guaran-teeing accurate results. American-Marsh has nearly 60 calibrated test lab motors so that an accurate pump efficiency can be generated.

Testing with the customer driver is always anoption but not nearly as accurate.One last area of test offering pertains to rebuilt

units. With an in house, highly engineered testfacility available at our corporate repair center,rebuilt pump certified testing can be offeredwith any repair. This testing can be offered onrebuilt American-Marsh equipment or any othermanufacturer's equipment.

American-Marsh Pumps Corporate PMG Service Centers provide the customer with superior repair and service capabilities. Our corporate PMG Service Center has the latest certifications including ISO 17025, ISO 9001:2015 and complete Factory Mutual (FM) certifications. Certifications and calibrations of this type are mandatory when considering on whom to choose for your next repair. We have been a pump manufacturer for 140 years, understand the theory behind pumping equip-ment and are experts in their application and service. PMG Service Centers are available throughout North America. All PMG Service Centers have lathes, hydrostatic test tanks, hydraulic presses, shaft straightening tables and build tables to expeditiously take care of your repair. Our Tennessee facility, in addition to this equipment, has full certified performance test capabilities.

PMG Field Services are a critical part of servicefor American-Marsh Pumps. Our factory trainedand qualified personnel are the first line ofdefense in getting to the bottom of what is hap-pening in the field. Our trained people look atyour system and help guide you through issueswith the ultimate goal in getting the equipmentto function as it was designed.

PMG Field Services can include field repairs,installation assistance, start-up, commissioningand the gathering of field test data. Laser align-ment and vibration analysis services can be pro-vided by American-Marsh Pumps with detailedreporting sent to the customer for record keep-ing. For repairs that are too complex for the

field, our service professionals will help coordi-nate getting the equipment back to a PMGService Center to expedite getting the equip-ment turned around and back to the field.

Overhung impeller pumps, namely end suc-tions, are one of the most common pumpsmanufactured today. These pumps can includevery standard commercial HVAC types or canbe very special ANSI B73.1M highly engi-neered process pumps. Regardless of which,American-Marsh Pumps can provide state of theart repair services. Our PMG Service Centershave the latest tools, technology and training toprovide you with a comprehensive repair experi-ence. When your equipment is received, a com-prehensive AS FOUND report is generatedwith corrective actions identified.

Overhung Impeller Repair Procedure

1. The pump is pressure washed upon receiptto decontaminate the unit for inspection.

2. The unit is disassembled and inspected.Critical areas of the pump get moreattention. All bearings, bearing journals,wear rings, impeller eyes and low & highpressure sides of the volute are inspected forany abnormal wear, corrosion, erosion orcavitation damage.

3. All receipt and inspection stages arephotographed to document the repairprocess. These digital stills also detail areasthat may need additional investigation. Inpast cases, a simple photograph has helpeddetermine system issues at the jobsite.

4. All components are washed and/or mediablasted to remove any previous paint orcontamination.

5. A complete AS FOUND report is generatedgiving the customer a clear picture ofexactly what was found and a clear idea ofwhat needs to be done to the equipment.

PMG Repair Services -Overhung Impeller Pumps

The AS FOUND report is instrumental inhelping find the root cause of many in thefield problems. This report is presented tothe customer and a decision on what to donext is made.

6. The items that were previously identified arereplaced with the same material or upgradedmaterial based on an individual basis. Weldrepairable parts are repaired and the unit isbrought back up to factory tolerances.

7. All impellers are dynamically balanced percurrent customer standards prior toreassembly.

8. After reassembly, each unit is completelyhydrostatically tested to ensure that allgaskets, o-rings and mechanical seals are leakfree. All ANSI B.73.1M process pumps havefactory clearances adjusted based onoperating temperatures.

9. Upon customer request, re-built units arefactory performance tested and test resultsare forwarded to the customer for review.

10.The complete unit is painted, tagged andprepared for shipment based on customerrequirements.

11.The last step in the repair process includedan AS REPAIRED report that details all thatwas done to the unit. This report includesall previous AS FOUND reporting so acomplete picture of what transpired is keptfor recordkeeping. American-Marsh Pumpshave a very detailed serial number systemthat is stored for future reference. Wecurrently keep serial number records back toaround 1930.

• Shaft sleeves and shafting can beupgraded from an alloy standpointto withstand corrosion found at thejobsite.

• Bearing housing contamination isone of the number one reasons forpump failure. Lip seal designs canbe modified and changed to fullbearing isolator protection greatlyreducing bearing lubricationcontamination.

• Casings can be coated with a variety ofcoatings to increase efficiency and life. Hardmetalized surface treatments can increasesurface hardness to over 750 Brinellextending life in extremely abrasiveapplications.

• Our engineering staff can evaluate yourcurrent bearing housing and shaftarrangement design. Certified changes (withengineering calculations) can be suggestedgreatly increasing bearing life andminimizing equipment downtime. We offera Severe Duty (SD) power frame forextreme applications in hardcore processapplications. The SD power framemodification is used to upgrade ANSIB73.1M process pumps when standardpower frames are not up to the task.

Regardlessof which, American-Marsh Pumps can providestate of the art repair services. Our PMG ServiceCenters have the latest tools, technology andtraining to provide you with a comprehensiverepair experience. When your equipment isreceived, a comprehensive AS FOUND report isgenerated with corrective actions identified.

Between Bearing Repair Procedure

PMG Service Center Rebowling

Unlike other pump types, vertical turbinepumps are perfectly suited for partial repairscalled rebowling. Vertical turbine pumps can bepartially repaired by replacing minimal compo-nents thereby minimizing costs. American-Marsh Pumps can replace just the bowl assem-bly, utilizing the existing column, shafting anddischarge head. In severe applications, we canreplace everything below the discharge head,giving the customer new performance but notrequiring any system piping changes as the pre-vious discharge head is reinstalled. Rebowlingalso allows the customer to upgrade hydraulicperformance, increase pump efficiency and pos-sibly upgrade metallurgy based on application.American-Marsh Pumps can place our bowlassembly on any other manufacturers columnand/or discharge head assembly. Custom col-umn/ head connections with custom shaftdiameter and stick-up are all customizable basedon field needs.
