The design environment was integrated or linked with BAAN (ERP),

database. Visualizations were created by classifications got from databases.

Oshima wanted to have a tool for their change management,

when building series of ships.

In the “main model” are set change requests in form of SmartPoints.

When required changes for improving next ship are investigated, the

SmartPoints in 3D model are checked and changes to design are done

according them. Then the change request will be marked as completed.

All requests and changes made can be tracked with this solution.

3D Model can hold more or less information from

3D design system, most important are Id’s. Tags,

position id’s or whatever identification, which gives

possibility to connect objects in model to data

and documents

Data and documents can be in several

forms and sources, without user

actually noticing it.
