Hence, in general, “Crowning Queen” has identical plant and fruit characteristics to that of the Cayenne except for the variegated leaves and crowns. The following is a general description of the new pineapple variety “Crowning Queen” that has been grown and propagated asexually in the nursery of Dr. Faustino P. Obrero at San Miguel, Mnolo Fortich, Bukidnon. Age of plant : 12 months old Height of plant : 100 cm above grown surface Stem Length : 30 cm Diameter : 15 cm at base Leaves Number : 40 Length : 95 cm (longest leaf) Width of largest leaves:
Mid leaf : 5.1 cm Basal disk area: 10.0 cm
Color: variegations of pinkish red, light yellow and light green Fruit Fruit size : usually 1.2 to 2.5 kg in weight Fruit shape : oval with medium crown Crown : plant on top of the fruit has variegated leaves pinkish red light yellow and green Shell color : dull green with white glooms Flesh : light yellow Taste : moderately sweet, brix 14 to 16
