The Multichoice JUMBO Universal Remote Control allows you to operate your Satellite Decoder as well as other devices such as your TV, DVD, Sound System, etc... Before you can use your Remote Control, it must be programmed to operate the above devices. Programming your Remote Control is a simple procedure using either of the methods below. Point and Program An automatic method whereby the remote self-programs to your TV without using codes. Code Entry Manually entering a 5 digit code located on the back of this manual that corresponds to your TV or Decoder model. Learning Manually learning of commands from one of your existing remote controls. For step by step instructions, please refer to: “Programming your Satellite Decoder” “Programming your Television” “Programming your DVD, Sound System, etc...” If you own a HD PVR, 990 or 1110 decoder, the JUMBO remote will work on your decoder and you may proceed to use it immediately. (The JUMBO Remote by default is set to control TV1 of the above Decoders) If you own an older Decoder, please refer to the section “Programming your Satellite Decoder” INTRODUCTION Programming your Satellite Decoder Programming your Television Programming your DVD, Sound System, etc... Press and Hold down “EXIT” to lock in the code If the code is accepted then the GREEN LED will blink 3 times. If the code is not accepted or is incorrect the GREEN LED will blink 2 times slowly and the original code will remain. Please be sure to change your remote to TV control mode before attempting the following. Refer to the section: “selecting between controlling your decoder and other devices” CODE ENTRY METHOD 1. Find the code for your TV on the reverse of this manual. 2. Press “ ” + “EXIT” buttons together for 3 seconds until the RED LED turns on. 3. Turn on your TV and be sure to face your JUMBO Remote towards your TV before entering your 5 digit code. 4. Enter the 5 Digit code. - Entry of the correct code will cause your TV to turn OFF. - If multiple codes are listed for your brand, you may have to enter several different codes until your TV turns OFF. 5. Once you have entered a 5-digit code that turns your TV OFF, press and hold down “EXIT” button to lock in the code. If the code is accepted then the RED LED will blink 3 times. If the code is not accepted or incorrect then the RED LED will blink 2 times slowly and the original code will remain. POINT AND PROGRAM METHOD 1. Turn on your TV and be sure to face your JUMBO Remote towards your TV. 2. Press “ ” + “EXIT” buttons together for 3 seconds until the RED LED turns on. 3. Press and hold the “CH UP” button until your TV turns OFF. - Whilst you are holding the “CH UP” button the RED LED will remain on as your remote searches through the different codes. 4. As soon as your TV turns OFF, release the “CH UP” button. 5. To be certain that you have not skipped past the correct code Press “POWER” button... a. If your TV turns back on, press and hold down “EXIT” to lock in the code. RED LED will blink 3 times and turn off. b. If your TV does NOT turn back on, press “CH DOWN” one step at a time until your TV turns back ON. - Each time you press the “CH DOWN” button, the RED LED will Blink as it goes through the different codes. - Once you have found a code that turns your TV ON / OFF, press and hold down “EXIT” to lock in the code. RED LED will blink 3 times and turn off. 6. Once you have found a code that turns your TV ON / OFF, press and hold down “EXIT” button to lock in the code. If the code is accepted then the RED LED will blink 3 times. If the code is not accepted or incorrect then the RED LED will blink 2 times slowly and the original code will remain. If you receive an error while trying to program your TV... Please ensure that you are in “TV Control Mode”. Refer to: “selecting between controlling your decoder and other devices” If you wish to LEARN a function from your original Remote into the Multichoice JUMBO Remote: When operating the remote in TV Control Mode, the LED will blink RED When operating the remote in Decoder Control Mode the LED will blink GREEN LEARNING METHOD 1. Place the JUMBO Remote and your original Remote with the front of each remote facing one another. 2. On the JUMBO Remote, Press “ ” + “OK” buttons together for 3 seconds until the LED turns on. 3. On the JUMBO Remote, Press a button that you would like to LEARN a command into. - The LED will blink once and turn on 4. Press the button on your original Remote control that you wish to learn. - If successful, the LED will blink once and turn on. (go to step 5) - If unsuccessful, LED will not blink (press the button again). 5. Press the button on your original Remote control again. - If successful, the LED will blink twice and turn on. (go to step 6) - If unsuccessful, the LED will not blink (press the button again). 6. Steps 3 to 5 can be repeated for however many other buttons you would like to LEARN to your JUMBO Remote. 7. Press the “ ” button to exit LEARNING MODE. - The LED will blink 3 times Selecting between controlling your Decoder and other devices Your Multichoice JUMBO Remote Control has the ability to control two separate devices. e.g. Control your Multichoice Decoder and TV. Picture it as though you have 2 remote controls built into 1. We refer to this as: Decoder Control Mode (Indicated with the GREEN LED) TV Control Mode (Indicated with the RED LED) To switch between controlling your Decoder and TV 1. Press the “ ” and “LANG” buttons together and release. - If switching from Decoder to TV, the RED LED with flash 3 times to indicate the swop over to TV control 2. Repeat the above to revert back to the previous device. - If switching from TV to Decoder, the GREEN LED with flash 3 times to indicate the swop over to Decoder control When the JUMBO Remote is set to control your Decoder... - The GREEN LED will blink whenever a button on your Remote Control is pressed When the JUMBO Remote is set to control your TV... - The RED LED will blink whenever a button on your Remote Control is pressed Decoder Control Mode • Code entry of Decoder Codes only • Learning Method TV Control Mode • Code entry of Television Codes only • Learning Method • Point and Program Method To identify the 5-digit Decoder or TV setup code stored in your Remote Control. 1. Press “ ” and “i” buttons together for 3 seconds. 2. The LED will “blink back” the code numbers with a 1 second interval between each digit of the code - “0” is indicated by 10 blinks Install four (4) new “AA” as indicated by the diagram in the battery compartment. When the backlight light no longer illuminates during use, install 4 new “AA” size batteries. Your Multichoice JUMBO Universal Remote has MEMORY RETENTION, which eliminates reprogramming after battery changes. Reset to Factory Settings To Reset your JUMBO Remote to its factory settings... 1. Press “ ” + “EXIT” together for 3 seconds until the LED turns on. 2. Press “MENU”, “MENU”. 3. The LED will blink 3 times. NB: By doing a reset your JUMBO Remote will revert to its factory state and all custom settings will be erased. If you receive an error while trying to program your TV...Please ensure that you are in “TV Control Mode”.Refer to:“selecting between controlling your decoder and other devices”

If you wish to LEARN a function from your original Remoteinto the Multichoice JUMBO Remote:

When operating the remote in TV Control Mode, the LED will blink REDWhen operating the remote in Decoder Control Mode the LED will blink GREEN

LEARNING METHOD1. Place the JUMBO Remote and your original Remote with the front of each remote facing one another.

2. On the JUMBO Remote, Press “ ” + “OK” buttons together for 3 seconds until the LED turns on.

3. On the JUMBO Remote, Press a button that you would like to LEARN a command into. - The LED will blink once and turn on

Selecting between controlling your Decoder and other devices

Your Multichoice JUMBO Remote Control has the ability tocontrol two separate devices.e.g. Control your Multichoice Decoder and TV.Picture it as though you have 2 remote controls built into 1.

We refer to this as:Decoder Control Mode (Indicated with the GREEN LED)TV Control Mode (Indicated with the RED LED)

To switch between controlling your Decoder and TV1. Press the “ ” and “LANG” buttons together and release. - If switching from Decoder to TV, the RED LED with flash 3 times to indicate the swop over to TV control

2. Repeat the above to revert back to the previous device. - If switching from TV to Decoder, the GREEN LED with flash 3 times to indicate the swop over to Decoder control

To identify the 5-digit Decoder or TV setup codestored in your Remote Control.

1. Press “ ” and “i” buttons together for 3 seconds.

Activating Numeric Keypad

The JUMBO Remote by default is set to control yourdecoder using:“GUIDE, i, OK, BLUE, GREEN, WHITE,,,,” buttons.

There is the option to switch to the Numeric Keypad.

1. Press and release “ ”

2. Your remote is now in Number Mode and will now respond to the number buttons: “1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0”

When a number is pressed whilst in Number Mode,the LED on top of the remote will blink ORANGE toindicate that the Numeric Keypad is active.
