ABOUT OFFALY LOCAL ENTERPRISE WEEK 2016
Local Enterprise Week provides business owners, managers or entrepreneurs with an annual
opportunity to take time out of their busy schedules to hear from other business owners and
practitioners. The week also provides an opportunity to make new contacts through
networking with other businesses and relevant support agencies and organizations.
This year Offaly Local Enterprise Week will bring you a range of Workshops, Clinics, Information and
networking sessions with guest speakers. We hope to promote, inspire and increase Offaly’s
entrepreneurial spirit with helpful and interesting events that will be value adding to your business
or future plans/ ideas.
The Local Enterprise Office in Offaly County Council wishes to acknowledge the support of its
partner agencies, organizations and businesses which have contributed to the planned events
during Enterprise Week. We also acknowledge and thank the many local businesses that have

This course will enable the delegate to manage themselves more effectively
within their own time constraints and will show how to better organise and
prioritise their business/work/life tasks.

full details on the application process, uses of the voucher and getting the best

businesses? The Local Enterprise Office and Offaly Libraries are developing a
range of innovative supports for business. Staff from the LEO and Tullamore
Library will be available to chat through services and supports for those

This course is designed to help participants recognize the main causes of stress.
Participants will learn useful tips on how to manage stress and minimize your
exposure to stress.
When someone experiences stress, there are many different symptoms and
repercussions. Depending on the level and frequency of stress, some of these
symptoms can become serious and cause a multitude of problems. Stress affects
people both mentally and physically.
One of the most common forms of stress is that related to our careers and the
workplace. In today's economic difficulty, work related stress is even more
pronounced than ever before.

Design Hub is an amalgamation of a group of young and innovative designers
from varied design disciplines - brand strategy, product design, commercial
interior design and multimedia.
This Design day clinic can give your business the competitive edge with a new
product or service, by improving your brand image, by improving your
marketing, enhancing productivity or by creating a space that encourages sales.
Book a mentoring session with a designer to develop you business idea/product.
Mentoring sessions are 1.5 hours in duration and must be pre-booked.

Student Enterprise Awards County Final Open to Public - 12.30pm – 2.00pm
Tullamore Court Hotel
Secondary Level schools from across Offaly will compete against each other in the
Tullamore Court Hotel. Students will be competing for our 3 prestigious awards
(Junior, Intermediate and Senior) with representatives from each category going
forward to represent Offaly in the National Final.
This event is open to the public from 12.30 pm – 2 pm, who are welcome to view
stands and support our entrepreneurs of the future.
The Student Enterprise Awards was introduced in the 2002/03 academic year.
Now more than 15,000 student businesses are set up annually in schools all around
Ireland.
We believe in the importance of educating students at an early age to gain
practical experience of how business works. Through the Student Enterprise
Awards the students experience, at first hand, the reality of a commercial
environment and develop the skills and knowledge of running a business.

Are you considering exporting? This half-day workshop will provide advice on export readiness and a road map for the issues that may be encountered. Expanding into international markets can seem daunting to small and midsized manufacturers. Here you will learn tips for reducing the risk and increasing the opportunities. You will learn how to spot opportunities, receive tips on attending overseas trade shows and the various different methods of exporting.
The tutor for Exporting to Grow Sales is Barry Murphy of Murphy Marketing. Since
2003, he has been helping small businesses, micro-enterprises and community
groups to grow. He delivers practical marketing and sales mentoring and learning
through his training. He prepares feasibility studies, business and marketing plans
that inform decision-making and drive real action.
Prior to becoming a mentor, he was Sales and Marketing Manager with an
indigenous Irish exporting manufacturer for 8 years. Before that, He was General
Manager of a French exporting agri-food business for 5 years.
He has developed marketing strategies, introduced new products to new markets,
designed on- and offline promotional strategies and put them into action. He has
exported to over 15 countries, built distribution channels and driven pricing
strategies.
He has prepared and exhibited at trade and consumer shows throughout Europe and
the USA, managed and marketed events and much more.

Ferbane Food Campus is a state-of-the-art food product development and training
facility. It is the first timeshare production facility of its kind to be developed in the
Midlands. The Campus aims to give food entrepreneurs the opportunity to use a
state-of-the-art kitchen and training facility to develop their product without the
prohibitive cost of maintaining their own commercial kitchen.
