INTRODUCTION

In February 2007 Council adopted the Plenty Park Masterplan. The Masterplan identified the specific issues, needs, and the key directions for the future development of the Park and made recommendations for each area within the park. The key actions and recommendations identified were detailed under the following key headings. 1. Oval Precinct 2. Tennis Precinct 3. Hockey Precinct 4. CFA Precinct 5. Family and Social Precinct including Footpaths 6. Heritage Precinct 7. Environmental Significant 8. Traffic Management and Car Parking 9. Management Actions

Based on the recommended actions within the Masterplan an implementation plan was developed to guide the timing, cost and priorities for the proposed upgrade of the park. The implementation plan was presented under the following key headings.

1. OVAL PRECINCT

The oval precinct includes the following facilities: 1 reserve 3 cricket practice nets 1 pavilion

1.1 Council to investigate possible winter tenant opportunities for the oval and for Council to discuss possible arrangements with the cricket club.

1.2 Council to investigate draining and surface options to allow for senior level sport.

ground upgrade is currently under construction due for completion by

3. HOCKEY PRECINCT The hockey precinct includes the following facilities; 2 synthetic hockey pitches 1 pavilion

3.1 A second hockey pitch to be developed at Plenty Park

Council to determine the financial contributions to be made by the Greensborough Hockey Club towards the installation of a second pitch. Council to assist the club in generating funding to assist with the cost of the second pitch and associated works to be undertaken.

4. CFA PRECINCT

The CFA precinct includes the following facilities: Plenty CFA Station Training Area 1 Storage Shed

6.1 Council to support the CFA in its plans to upgrading the existing CFA station in the future.

Council to consult further with the Plenty Fire Brigade to follow up key issues and likely costs and benefits of a future redevelopment of the station.

COMPLETED The CFA have received $1.4m funding in 2016/17 to carry out a redevelopment

of the station. This was supported by Council

6.2 Develop lighting at the eastern end of the CFA training area (when the hockey carpark is developed).

Provision be made for lighting of the CFA training area during the completion of hockey carpark.

STILL TO BE COMPLETED The carpark extension has been

proposed in Council’s draft capital works programs commencing in

2016/17.

5. FAMILY AND SOCIAL PRECINCT

7. ENVIRONMENTAL SIGNIFICANCE

1.13 Vehicle access to the lower end of the park to be relocated to the far end of the oval (farthest from the cricket club clubrooms).

Relocate cricket practice nets off the sporting ground
