before you enroll or need some more

time to decide, PSU can help you get

of entering first-year students—are

still deciding. The Department of

you explore academic options and

research and service learning

At PSU, learning takes place both in and out of the

classroom, throughout the region and around the world.

Whether you’re a first-year student or a senior, and

regardless of your major, you’ll have opportunities to

apply your coursework to the real world through research

projects and a wide variety of short-term and long-term

service-learning projects that combine community ser-

vice with learning.

PSU students have examined water quality from samples

they’ve collected from local rivers, developed business

planstohelpareabusinesses,analyzedthebiological

clocks of horseshoe crabs at the seacoast, studied media

impact on childhood obesity, presented research on

Capitol Hill, discussed social issues with community lead-

ers in the Dominican republic, and so much more.

Earn credits toward your PSU degree

while you experience new cultures

through study abroad programs in

more than 100 countries, including

China, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy,

and Jamaica. You can even study

abroad as early as the first semes-

ter of your first year through PSU’s

Freshman Abroad Program at the

University of Limerick in Ireland,

where you’ll take classes and live on

campus in a residential village with

Irish students and other international

students. You’ll also have a chance to

get to know a PSU faculty member

who will accompany you and your

PSU classmates to Ireland and teach

two of your courses. Field trips, cul-

tural events, and participation in the

University of Limerick’s many stu-

dent clubs and societies are included

in the program.

Not only is study abroad exciting

and educational, it’s also affordable.

PSU and many of its study abroad

partners offer scholarships, and any

financial aid you’ve been awarded

travels with you.

Want a more domestic study experi-

ence? Through the New Hampshire

Where you’ll live

PSU’s 170-acre campus is home to

seven residence halls and two student

apartment complexes. All rooms are

furnished with the basics for you and

yourroommate:beds,dressers,desks,

chairs, and closets. The fun part is

decorating your space and making it

your own!

All residence halls are co-ed and have

a live-in, professional residence direc-

tor as well as student staff who are

available to support and assist stu-

dentsandhelporganizerecreational

and social events. Wi-Fi and laundry

facilities are available in all residence

halls, along with community space

with TVs and recreational equipment.

What you’ll eat

The PSU campus has a large variety of snacking and din-

ing options. Whatever you’re craving, Prospect Dining Hall

hasit:choosefromhome-cookedfavorites,afullyloaded

saladbar,vegetarianoptions,pizza,desserts—there’seven

a walk-up window for to-go orders. At the HUB (Hartman

Union Building) you can grab a quick bite at the Union

grille or a bagel and coffee at the Sidewalk Café. While

you’re at Lamson Library, you can stop by the Commons

Café for a latte and a muffin.

Along the edge of campus on main Street you’ll find Thai,

deli,Chinese,Mexican,pizza,burgers,andmore.

What you can do

Do what you love or try something new! See a perfor-

mance at the Silver Center for the Arts, ice skate at Han-

away rink, cheer the Panthers on to victory at a game, take

a yoga class, work out in the Fitness Center, shop on main

Street—whatever you’re into, there’s always something to

do on or around campus.

And don’t forget the lakes and mountains that surround

PSU are perfect for hiking, biking, climbing, skiing, snow-

ing, the Active Living, Learning,

and Wellness Center (ALLWell)

North, will open. ALLWell North

is a 108,000-square-foot complex

that will replace PSU’s current field

the-art athletics and recreational

facilities,includingafull-sizetrack

and indoor tennis courts. With the

opening of ALLWell North, PSU

own doctor. Speare memorial

Hospital, a critical access hospital,

is just across the street from

campus.

The counseling and human

relations center offers free,

The saGe (Sexuality, Anti-

Violence, gender, and Equality)

Center provides services that ad-

dress violence prevention, diversity,
