Work Breakdown Structure
(WBS) Tree
The graphical structure of the WBSis an easy way to identify theproject components andrelationships of those
components; however, the WBScan be displayed in anotherformat as well: the Tree format. Both formats are acceptable. Thegraphical format is at times easier
to understand, but can take upconsiderable space in a report. The tree is not as easy tounderstand but is more easilyincorporated into a report format.
Note the WBS codes and thestructure of the Levels in the Treeformat mirror the graphical format. The content has not changed;only the way the content is
presented has changed.

an ar as cs Ganttcharts are a projectplanning toolthatcanbe
usedtorepresentthetiming oftasks requiredto
complete a project. Because Ganttcharts aresimpletounderstand andeasy toconstruct, theyareusedby mostprojectmanagers forallbutthemostcomplexprojects.
In a Ganttchart, eachtasktakes uponerow. Datesrun along thetop in increments ofdays, weeks ormonths, depending on thetotallengthofthe
project. Theexpectedtime foreachtask is
representedby a horizontalbarwhoseleftendmarks theexpectedbeginning ofthetask andwhoserightendmarks theexpectedcompletiondate. Tasks may run sequentially, in paralleloroverlapping.
