AIR COMPRESSOR :-

An air compressor is a device which is used to produce compressor air.

This compressed air is used as the source of pneumatic power supply.

Air Compressor are mainly two types :-

( 1 ) Reciprocating compressor ( 2 ) Rotary compressor

A Reciprocating compressor which has a piston sliding in a cylinder and the compressed air is diliverd to receiver.

A Rotary compressor in which the dynamic head is imparted to the gas by means of high speed impeller rotating in a confined space.

Rotary compressor are used where large quantities of air are needed at relatively low pressures.

Piston type

Vane type

Diaphram type

Screw type

Lobe type

AIR RECEIVER : - Air receiver is an essential component of a

comoressed air system.

Air Receiver supplies air at constant pressure.

The sizing of air receiver depends on the following parameter :

( 1 ) System pressure ( 2 ) Flow rate requirements ( 3 ) Compressor output capacity

AIR FILTERS : - Air filter are used to filter the air taken into

the cimpressor.

Function of Filters :- (1) Filter all the suspended impurities in air such as dust and other particulate matter.

(2) Filter helps in condensing the excess water vapour.
