Principal’s Message
Already we are into week 4 and fortunately everything appears to be
progressing safely here in New South Wales. This newsletter is a great showcase
of what has been happening for our students here at school.
Year 12 have just commenced their Trial HSC Examinations and at this point
everything has been travelling smoothly. I know that they have put the
disruption behind them and are now pushing ahead strongly to ensure they
achieve their best. We will do our part by having everything in place to support
them. If you have any concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
One of the more interesting outcomes of our COVID-19 disruption has been the
production of online school assemblies. The WHS film studio(the library), has
been a hive of activity every second Friday as the technical crew put together all
the normal parts of the assembly. So far it has proven to be a great success.
The most concerning aspect of our return to school is the number of students
who are missing school. It is compulsory for students to attend school every day
and if students are not meeting this requirement the Department of Education
will investigate and if it does not improve, legal action will commence. Every day
a student is absent, they are missing out on learning and fall behind. We want
all our students to attain a great education and I ask you to ensure this happens.
The wind storm that ripped through the town last Friday caused damage here at
school and a number of trees dropped limbs. We were fortunate not to have
anyone badly injured as it was right on lunchtime. We are currently having them
removed as I write this report.
I have noticed that there are a number of students who are arriving at school
before 8:30 am. They will not be supervised before 8:30a.m and for this reason
I would prefer they did not arrive until after this time.
Please remember to send a water bottle with the students and if they are sick,
keep them home according to government regulations. Thank you for
supporting us in minimising visitors to the school, we hope this will change some
time in the future to enable us to share our school with you in person.

HEALTH CARE PLANS
UPDATED DETAILS
Have you moved house?
Have your contact details changed?
Please inform the Front Office
of any new details.
Your child’s health and wellbeing is an important part of our duty of care here at
Wellington High School. Department policy requires Health Care Plans to be created
for all students with Anaphylaxis, Severe Asthma, Diabetes, Epilepsy and any other
condition that could require an emergency response. Recently, we have sent out
letters to gather health information for our known students with allergies, anaphylaxis
and asthma. The purpose of collecting this information is to confirm the need for, and
the correct type of support to be put into place for these students. If you received an
allergy or asthma letter, could you please return that information as soon as possible.
If your child has been diagnosed recently with any of the health conditions that fit into
the highlighted categories above, could you please contact myself or the school office
as soon as possible.
