Another year is drawing swiftly to a close and here

are the highlights of our recent activities.

The Ingathering that the SBAA managed for the S.B.

Public Library’s Faulkner Small Galleries went ex-

tremely well. We had 53 applicants to fill 22 open-

ings and 13 SBAA members were awarded shows:

Frances Reighley, Emil “Aim” Morhardt, Thore

Edgren, Jane Hurd, Brenda Geneau, Bay Hallow-

ell, Karen Schroeder, Ron Kok, Tomi Murphy,

Kristine Kelly, Jamee Aubrey, Ellen Yeomans,

and me. The shows are scheduled through May of

2018 and congratulations to all the artists, members,

and non-members, who made the cut.

Saturday, November 5th was the change out of the

show at 1919 State Street. Everyone picked up their

work on time (as they did at the JCC!) so, congratu-

lations all round. We had a very nice turnout with

54 entries and the juror, Scott Anderson, selected 38

pieces to hang. Juror’s Choice went to Jana Jul-

ian, Award went to Jerilynne Nibbe and Honora-

ble Mention went to Virginia Kamhi. Thanks to

everyone for their participation.

We’re hoping for a big turnout for our Holiday

Show ingathering at the Faulkner on Wednesday,

November 30th from 10-12:30. Each member can

submit 2 pieces for $10 each but they must be priced

at $300 or less (or NFS but why bother if you’re not

after a sale). This is SBAA’s way of offering origi-

nal artwork to the community at affordable prices for

holiday gifts. In addition, each 2016 New Member

may bring a piece for the side galleries to hang at no

charge – any size or price (or NFS). Since these are

non-juried shows, all pieces will be accepted as long

as they meet our hanging standards. At the ingather-

ing, there will be sign-up sheets for Faulkner Sitting

as well volunteering to help serve refreshments –

working the reception is a great way to meet other

members and guests and get into the Holiday Spirit!

Thank you to members who submitted photos of

their artwork for the Holiday Show postcard. Nancy

Horwick’s was selected. Some of the others appear

in this issue and the remaining will be in the January

issue.

I wish you all very Happy Holidays and

a New Year of Peace and Promise!
