The Choral Festival Of Music On Sunday the 22nd of July, 36 members of the Franklin School Choir, 11 parent helpers and
some teachers travelled by bus to Sydney for the Festival Of Choral Music. Our first stop was the
Maritime Museum. After dinner we got to experience the Sydney Eye Tower at night.
On Monday morning we had heaps of fun at Madamme Tussaud’s Wax Museum. After lunch the
choir, Mrs Argaet and Miss Gould went to the Opera House for a three hour rehearsal. Monday
night was our chance to shine at the Festival of Choral Music. It was very exciting performing in a
mass choir of over 600 voices. After the show we all went to McDonalds for a treat and got to
meet up with parents who travelled to Sydney to watch us perform.
On Tuesday we caught a ferry to Taronga Zoo then after watching the Seal Show, the Free Flight
Show and looking around at lots of animals, we hopped back on the bus and headed back to
Tumut. Thanks to the teachers and parents who helped with this incredible excursion!

CELEBRATING FRANKLIN!
TOGETHER WE LEARN
Linking Literature and Mathematics
At Franklin Public School, our students have been learning to access mathematical skills and strategies through literature. Teachers
and students have been sharing books which have rich mathematics and problem solving opportunities. Literature and Mathematics
have close links and the students of Franklin School are enjoying and exploring what these books are offering.
Hands-on Learning
At Franklin there are so many opportunities for the students to learn through engaging with hands-on materials. Some examples
are IPads and chrome books used in all key learning areas, use of concrete materials in mathematics as well as interactive
whiteboard activities.
How2Learn: Building Our Students Capacities to Learn
Many classes at Franklin have been exploring the power of yet, which is the idea that although a new skill may be difficult at first
don’t give up, keep trying and soon you will see improvements. Hume are showing some of the strategies that we use to be great
learners!
Meal Deal notes have been sent home today.
Orders and money need to be returned by Friday 3rd August.
