We have been doing some Christmas crafts – making bells, candles, wreaths and angels. Some of the children have also been doing Christmas colourings –we have seen some very creative art work. Last week we made taco’s for snacks, and tonight we made
pancakes. The children have been showing great teamwork and co-operation skills. Just a reminder that there is no after school care on Friday, Dec. 21st the last day of Term.
Have a great week. Sue

GREAT TIPS FOR HEALTHY KIDS TIP 36 ELECTRONIC GAMES CAN PREVENT FITNESS Some computer games and electronic games provide ‘other worlds’ that kids enjoy exploring. Some of them are educational, so it can seem like a very good thing that your child spends hours ‘learning’. But playing these games can prevent kids from being fit. The longer they spend with them, the less time they are physically active.
What you can do NOW Limit total time playing games on the computer, or surfing
the internet, or watching TV, to a maximum of two hours per day.
Expect your child to have at lease 60 minutes of moderate physical activity every day.
Develop an original game with your child. Install a basketball hoop in the backyard.
Good Idea!
Organise a scavenger hunt for the kids and their friends. You can hide ordinary household items such as a garden glove, balls or pegs. Write up a list of instructions and watch them have fun.
Top Tip
Kids are more likely to happily walk away from electronic games if there are attractive alternatives. You could suggest a board game with the family, a walk together along a local bush track, or visiting the library together.
~ Merry Christmas ~
We at Nutrition Australia wish you all a very Merry Christ-mas and hope you have a happy and safe holiday. Here’s a great recipe for “Christmas Fruit & Coconut Balls.” These are a fantastic idea to cool down during the warm,
summer weather!
Ingredients: 250g ricotta cheese 1/2 cup finely chopped fresh
pineapple 1/2 cup finely chopped mango
1 cup sultanas 1 finely chopped banana
1 1/2 cup desiccated coconut Extra coconut for coating
Method:
1. Mix the ricotta cheese and fruits thoroughly
together with a wooden spoon.
2. Add enough coconut to bring the mixture to
a firm consistency.
3. Take teaspoon amounts of mixture and roll
into small balls
4. Roll the balls in coconut
and chill until firm.

WANT TO GET RID OF YOUR PLASTIC GROCERY BAGS??? Do you have lots of plastic grocery bags taking up valuable storage space in your home? A member of our school community is collecting plastic grocery bags to make sleeping mats for the homeless. If you have excess plastic grocery bags (I’m sure many of us do) they can be brought to the school office for collection to make more sleeping mats. Not only are we providing a soft place for a homeless person to sleep—we are also recycling those unwanted plastic grocery bags!!
