    What is a Pocket Habitat?

Pocket Habitat is a unique modular vegetation

system designed to promote biodiversity inurban areas. Pocket Habitat can be used oncommercial and domestic roofs, terraces andbalconies, on browneld sites set aside forfuture development, as a enhancement toschools and public places and as a solution forhabitat creation on temporary sites.

The Pocket Habitat has been designed tobe moved as needs dictate. As habitat and

diversity develop, Pocket Habitat retains itsvalue wherever it is. Its unique, clean andportable design makes it the solution for retro-t, new build and temporary installations

The function and form of Pocket Habitat isunique in many ways. It has been designedto create sheltered and shaded areas withineach pocket and with its mounded substrates, allows for the establishment of a much widerrange of species. When a series of pockets

are tessellated they create a sculptured formproviding an instant mix of shape, colour andtexture.

    Benefts

{ Easy carry-in-one-hand installation of 35 m2per hour, saves on-site time and costs

{ Superior to roll-out green roofs as suitablefor temporary sites and transfer frombuilding footprint to roof level

{ Easy installation retro-tting onto existingroofs

{ Optimum rates of wildower seedgermination, plant survival and habitatsustainability

{ Overcomes the issue of visually unattractivebrown roofs to stakeholders and investors

{ Proven to sustain increased biodiversity ofora and fauna over roll-out green roofs

{ Pocket Habitat material is 100% recyclableand contribute to reducing landll waste

{ Reduces noise, improves air quality andwell-being via human interaction . . . andmore!

{ Retains 60% of heavy rainfall event, 40%annual rainfall

Pocket Habitat is made rom recycled polypropylene bres to orm a sculptured, engineered

habitat that is specically designed to support vegetation growth and variety. The pockets are then

tessellated to orm a mosaic o habitats which adds an aesthetic to the space and provides an ideal

    environment or biodiversity to fourish.

{ Made from recycled materials{ Over 80% coverage combats Urban Heat

Island Effect (UHIE){ Creates biodiverse habitats that are species-rich, sustainable and valuable to the localecology

    Plants & Wildlife

Standard substrate blends used with thesame seed mix creates a varied vegetation.Customized effect can be achieved by mixingsubstrates depending on the environment,

    location and climate. These include:

    { Soil & Sand{ Limestone & Compost

    { Crushed brick & Wood bark{ Pebbles & Compost

    INSTALLATION

Place the Pocket Habitat and pull stringto open, exposing the substrate andwildower seed.

    Rainwater will germinate the wildowerseed.

The Pocket Habitats are tied togetherduring installation to form a continuousvegetated surface.

Over time a valuable habitat isestablished.

Because each Pocket Habitat only weighs 20 kg, they are ideally suited to being manually handledwhich speeds up installation and makes retrotting via existing buildings simple and effective.

Once opened, the Pockets are nestled together to form a regular pattern. Each unit is tied to itsneighbour and has an intimate contact on all sides to ensure there are 3 (small) and 2.5 (large)pockets per m2. Each row should be lined up using a string line or similar, once they are all inposition, seeding or planting can be carried out.

Pocket Habitat is supplied empty through a ne network ofdistributors, dealers and specialized garden centers.

For projects and special customers, Pocket Habitat can bepre-lled with substrate and seeds. In that case the followinginstructions apply:
