• Using iTunes to listen to podcasts with or without an MP3 player

• What is a podcast• How to subscribe • What is iTunes U • You can create your own audio podcast

What is a podcast?

• Can be audio or video• Can be downloaded via syndication.  For our purposes, this

means that you can subscribe to it in iTunes.  This means that when the podcast is updated, iTunes will automatically download it for you.

• You do not need an iPod or other MP3 player to listen to podcasts

How can I subscribe to a podcast?

• iTunes Store • Click on Podcasts on the left to browse or, if you know the

name of your podcast, you used the search bar in the upper right. 

• Once you have located the podcast, click the Subscribe button

What is iTunes U

• iTunes U is part of the Apple Store• NCSU's iTunes U content is available at itunes.ncsu.edu in

your web browser• The web browser will open iTunes• EIT's content is located under College of Agriculture and Life

Sciences, including the TechKnowTalk podcast

What can podcasting be used for?

• Training• Talk shows• Self guided tours at arboretums or museums• Audio books

How can I add my content?

• Free tools such as Audacity can be used to record and edit your audio content

• The NCSU iTunes U site is available for hosting content. If the content is hosted elsewhere, iTunes U or another RSS feed generator can be used
