Overview v Under the direction of Dr. Zeeshan Husain and with coordinated efforts by the
graduate medical education department at McLaren Oakland Hospital (MOH), the podiatric residency program is evolving and growing the program in terms of surgical volume and non-podiatric experiences. A renewed emphasis will be on participation in research and surgical outcome studies as well as participating in scholarly activities locally and nationally. The McLaren system has presence throughout Michigan and the resources available will allow the PMSR/RRA program to become a destination for those candidates looking to complete a challenging residency program to prepare them for a career in podiatric surgery to its fullest scope, become lifelong learners, and contribute to the podiatric profession.
v The MOH Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency Program (PMSR) is a three-year surgical program with added credentials in reconstructive rearfoot/ankle surgery that is integrated into the medical resident training program.
v Podiatric Surgery residents are relied upon and treated as any other intern or resident while on off-service rotations. We have consistently been strong performers on these rotations and are expected to function as a dependable part of the team.
v Podiatric residents receive stipends that parallel the other residency programs.
v Residents receive well-rounded training, from elective foot surgery to diabetic foot infections and management of foot and ankle trauma including complex reconstructive cases.
v Previous residents have found successful employment across the country in numerous settings and aspects of podiatric medicine.
