    All My Friends

    You have given me so

    many wonderful days.

You have helped me inso many gracious ways.

    You have touched me so

    deep in my tender heart.

I want to thank you all but

do not know where to start.

Do not think of me as

    having come and left.

    But call me when you

    need a cheerful lift.

    God Bless

    Alone

I sit alone thinking about all I have done and to do

In the quiet of the night I can focus and reflect

Thoughts come quite easily in the stillness of the shadows

That surround me like a fugitive holding me in check

Am I being held as a hostage or a prisoner?

This is the present question that confronts me

Do I make elaborate plans for my clever escape?

Or do I pay a handsome ransom in order to go free?

How ironic to be held captive without walls or chains to bind

No lock upon the latch no guard outside the door

Loneliness does a prison make inside the troubled mind

From which there is no escape not even though the floor

What hope have I to break this stifling hold

That keeps me from sleep and any thoughts reprise

The night is gravely still, deafly quiet and deeply coldMy only hope of freedom lies in the warmth of the sunrise

And if the sun refused to rise, sleep in late or maybe

Hide behind a curtain of clouds to shy to show its face

I know of one certain cure that is sure to set me free

And that is your beautiful smile and charming grace

    Barefoot in the Sand

Walking barefoot in the white beach sand

Invites my sleeping senses out to play

Especially when I am walking with you

On a deliciously warm and sunny day

Oh the sensual massage of the warm velvet surfaceThat gently pushes back with each step I take

From heel to toe it rolls with even pressure

Allowing muscles to stretch; relieving many aches

But the awesome magic is in the pleasant touch

That lies within your soft and gentle hand

The beautiful hand that has taken mine to hold

As we stroll engagingly along the white beach sand

    Dance With Me

I want to hold you in my arms so tight,

    and sway with you all through the night;

To run my fingers through your hair,

    I'd chase away your every care;

Come my darling dance with me.

All day long I think of you,

    I tell you over and over my love is true;

My dear precious one I need you near,

    No not just for a day, a month or a year;

Please come and dance with me.

A love this strong and oh, so complete,

    must not be ignored or be given to defeat;

A precious gift, a rare treasure divine,

    Come to me darling, say you'll be mine;

Come to me and have this dance!

    Dear John,

    That's what the letter read.

    Your girlfriend dumped you,

    Is what it really said.

    It actually doesn't matter,

For she is so very far away. What I am struggling with here,

I may not live through anyway.

    So light up another cigarette

And suck it way down deep.

    Tell yourself she's worthless,

She is dating a gutless creep.

I wish it were so simple.

    I wish life were serene.

But today I live in hell,

    Where everyone is mean.

    Does Killing Hurt?

Oh Mary, dear sweet MaryJust what is it can I say?

You came to me so pleasantlyCreating a very special day.

Now my deepest dark secretsYou awkwardly ask me to share,

But I am reluctant to do so.Will it change the way you care?

The taking of anyones lifeNo matter how very small;Even that of a chipmunks

    Will never make someone tall.

There wasnt a single thoughtThat traveled through my head,

The hellish ugly moments, beforeI rendered some poor soul dead.

It was only some time after

When I felt the guilt and shame. Now it haunts me like a shadow,Will I ever really be the same?

Your innocence is lost when youAre forced to cross the line.

Nothing like the first attempt at love,It is a nasty, vicious rape this time

No, I do not harbor any angerJust because you are curious to ask.I simply ask, no beg you to remember

This revolting person is buried in the past.

    Dream Lover

You have made my dream come true

    You chased away my nightmares

I prayed for someone that can share my dreams

As I share in the dreams they dream each day

Someone to discuss problems and find solutions

That are good for everyone not just me

To help me be a good person

By telling how my behavior appears to othersSo I know if my efforts are correct and not selfish

To remind me that it is a waste of energy to worry

Or be upset when others do things that I dislike

To laugh with me and play like children

To hold me close so I know that I am loved and cared for

To share in chores so they become games instead of work

To trade kisses with that set the room on fire

Someone whose touch will calm me when I am on edgeAnd excite me when she is filled with desire

Someone who loves me as I am

And receives my love with open arms

You are all that I have dreamed for

Let me be your dream come true

    Dreaming

I close my eyes to envision the beauty of your face

The graceful curve of your full lips as they form a smile

That glows with warmth and the promise of soft sweet kissesYour dark eyes sparkle like precious sapphires

In the flickering candlelight that illuminates my dream

Your cheeks are flush with color as if blushing from desire

My head begins to spin and my blood runs hot

As the scent of your perfume fills the room

This is too real to be a dream yet I dare not open my eyes

I will let this moment blossom and languor in the joy

That washes across my body like waves across burning sandIf this is but a dream than I will forever a dreamer be

If this is truly happening, then my dream has come to me

    Fear

    ][

    What is fear?

    When is it near?

    ][

    Is it something you know?

Or is it something you grow?

    ][

Turn out the lights and when it is dark

Do you feel that fear has found its mark?][

When you are alone with no one around

Does panic seize you with a strange sound?

    ][

You go to the store bringing the children along

What do you feel when you turn and they are gone?

    ][

And when someone you love has been sent to the warDoes your heart stop when there is a knock on the door?

    Yes

    You

    Know fear,

    We know it well.

    But with Gods help,

We will live through it all.

So the next time you are gripped by fear

Ask God for help, pray to have an angel near.

    Fields of Green

    Fields of green surround me

Draped with rows of vibrant flowers

The morning air is soft and warm

Filled with the scent of roses and lilacsI lose focus and my mind is clouded

With the vision of a beautiful woman

She is sleek and graceful as she moves

Adorned with silky black hair touched by the sun

And skin that seems to glow in the shimmering light

My heart beats like it is about to burst through my chest

Am I dreaming or has God Himself blessed me?

It makes no difference to me on this glorious dayFor I will bask in the bliss that this moment brings

    Fill My Heart

What causes the swelling in my chest?

It is my heart I must confess.

It beats so strong and out of control

I can't help but wonder where it will go.

The tiny seed of love you did sow,

has taken root and started to grow.

To fill my heart and fill my soul

with all you feel and all you know.

I cannot resist this sweet temptation,

to be filled with love and contemplationof days to come with just you and I.

For once I wish that time would fly.

    Forever

The night air is still and warmAs an autumn moon begins to rise

I catch the soft scent of jasmine

As I slowly close my eyes

The fragrance of the blossomSlowly intoxicates my headThe room is slowly spinningAs I make my way to bed

I lie there in tranquil silenceReflecting on this blissful day

    The fiery moments spent together

Even though you're so far away

The sweet passion in your kissesThat you sent me through the phone

The spasms that shook my bodyAs I listened to you moan

Oh what pleasant tortureTo think of you this way

Dreaming of you beside meDoing whatever you say

How I long to hold you closelyAnd share what is in my heart

To tie our lives togetherSo no force can tear us apart

There is so much to tell youAnd I don't know where to begin

It will take a thousand lifetimesTo bring this to an end

But know that for all the wordsOne thing will always be trueIt is really very simple dear

I am forever in love with you

    Friends

    When you are all alone and feel you want to die,When you are so full of hurt that it makes you cry,Please pick up the phone and call out my name;

I may not make you laugh but I will feel your pain.

Should you ever feel like its time to running awayAnd there is nothing left that will make you stay,

Please give me a call and tell me what bothers you;I may not ask you to stop, but can I run with you too?

And on those days when you do not want to be toldWhat to do with your life before you grow old

Please go to the phone and place a call to my houseI promise I will listen and be quiet as a mouse

But if one day you call and there is no answer tooPlease come over to me I may be in need of you

    Gift of Roses

Today you called me with tears in your eyes.

With a mournful voice you told me your roses had died.

I felt so helpless sitting in my easy chair.

I desperately wanted to help you and show I cared.

Why are flowers so fragile, to remind us of life?

That beauty is only temporary and subject to strife?Even if protected like the roses with their tricky thorns,

We may be cut down too soon after we are born.

So I ask you to take a deep breath, wipe away the tear.

Listen for a moment I have something you should hear.

Roses are like people, there are many shapes and colors.

They come to us when needed, then leave to go help others.

    Gratitude

As air fills my lungs it turns my blood red

It gives my heart another chance to beat

To be filled with feelings that run deep

To be shared with someone very special

Why have I been given this opportunity

To know the joy of a friendship so dear

To know a person so kind and thoughtfulTo feel what it means to live in happiness

I have searched in vain to find someone special

And to my surprise I find a beautiful Princess

A Princess who is without pretense or pride

A Princess who is modest of her charm and grace

Her presence and her wisdom humble meI am honored to be included in conversation

I am often without words to describe my fortune

I am only grateful that I have been blessed

    Happy Birthday Weiwei

    Your beautiful eyes they mesmerize

They make me warm they hypnotize

Your raven hair so soft to touch

Makes me desire you oh so much

    Your graceful and sensual dance

    Stirs sweet visions of romance

    Your subtle gracious charms

    They do totally me disarm

Please do not dismiss me as a foolAs I am enchanted with the likes of you

Allow me my pleasant dreams to chase

Allow me at least one more embrace

I ask of you nothing in return

It is your friendship I do yearn

For I have never met anyone like you

All I have written is sincere and true

So on this nineteenth day of June

I send my love and promise the moon

From the depths of my humble soul

    May our love continually grow

From the bottom of my tender heart

Allow me a small yet treasured part

May God bless you with all his grace

May you always live in a happy place

    Happy Song

A little bird came to my window

And sang a sweet song to me

    About a beautiful kind woman

At a place where I want to be

This bird was so very happy

The secret it had to share

With a man who came very closeAnd listened with great care

    Yes I listened with attention

    To each and every note

It made my heart so happy

To what the bird did quote

She sang of wonderful momentsLike walking in the park

    And sharing in conversation

    While dinning after dark

How can I be so lucky

To have found such a friend

I will always be so thankful

    From now until the end

    Hopeless

    The thunder of the mortars

    Summons up the dead

    Calls them back to battle

    They recently had fled

There is no hope of escapingThere is no going home

    Unless you surrender your soul

    And walk the world alone

    To leave this senseless fray

    Your comrades would despite you

    Now marked a vicious killer

    Your neighbors will deny you

    So buckle on your helmet

    And saddle up your pack

Grab your weapon and your ammo

It is time to be heading back

    The Journey

The tires sing as I move along

Down the road with a new song

The sun is warm upon my face

The sky a bit hazy just a trace

My mouth stretches wide with a yawn

The day is early just past dawn

Where I am going is not very clear

It may be far or it may be near

    The destination will eventfully come

It's the journey that matters and what I've doneSo I'll keep driving along this highway

    A Kiss

What is life without a kiss - it is a breath without airAnd you have filled my body with life with your kisses oh so fair

My soul is flooded with delight as my heart races to your touch

I have never know such joy and I thank you oh so much

If these lines make you laugh it's okay

But if they bring a smile to your beautiful face

    Let Time Fly

There is a delicate softness in the breeze

That licks at my lonely thirsty lips

    Filling my flaring hungry nostrils

With the sweet seductive scent of jasmine

I pause to close my tired weary eyes

And feel your tender teasing touchAs the fragile wings of a lazy butterfly

Brush ever so lightly against my cheek

The brilliant radiance of the afternoon sun

Brings a welcomed warmth to my blushing face

And I am lost in those splendid quiet moments

That we always shared after rapturous passion

How I wish that time would spread its wings

And take flight with the speed of light

So I may lie within your sweet embrace

And feel your loving heart beat close to mine

    Love at Sunset

    Sunsets are made for lovers

Is not a question of where but when

    They come most dramatically

Just as the day is about to end

    Flaming crimson is the color

That flows across the evening sky

To torch the fires in willing hearts

    And make anxious mothers cry

For they know their precious daughters

Will be caught up in the heat

That comes with the torrid moment

The lips of their lover's meet

    Maybe it was years ago

    Maybe it was yesterday

    Still they fondly remember

    The games that sunsets play

    Misty Eyes

There is a mist in the air that stings my eyesIts origin is unknown and I wonder why

The sky is bright blue, the sun shines high

What reason exists for this mysterious dew?

My vision is blurred from this burning sensation

There must be some reason a logical explanation

Oh for crying out loud there is nothing so strange

It is tears that I shed because it is you that I miss

    Morning Light

As the sun chases away the frosty night

It adds a blush to the billowing clouds

That float across the tranquil heavens

Like pillows for my angel to take rest

She sleeps so sweetly as I watch contentlyOh how I want to kiss her but dare not

Her gentle peaceful slumber to disturb

Would be too much sorrow for me to bare

I resolve to sit quietly beside her bed

And fill my soul with her celestial beauty

That glows softly in the morning light

Through curtains drawn closed for the night

Oh what a rare and precious moment for me

To capture and hold deep within my heart

A priceless treasure to keep forever

And fondly visit when we are apart

    Muir Woods

There are moments when I am dreaming

And my thoughts are far away

Floating through the woods and meadows

By a crystal stream, across the bay

I listen to the carefree crickets

    And start to hum along

    In the distance is whippoorwill

    Softly whistling its lovely song

I pause for a tranquil momentIn the shade of a great oak tree

And feast upon the fresh sweet air

That gently blows in from the sea

I linger there a while longer

Not at all willing to depart

    There is something very familiar

About the feeling in my heart

It wasn't so very long ago

That this place I did stay

    With someone very special

I believe it was the month of May

But now it is just a memory

    Some things do not last

Yet I am so very grateful

To have such a beautiful past

    My Beloved

I walked through a mellow meadow

    while whistling a memorable tune

    The tranquil beauty consumed me

And my pleasant thoughts turned to you.

The sun was warm upon my cheerful face,

sweet songs of happy birds I could hear,

and the blissful breeze carried your scentAs if you were walking so very near.

A smile found the curve of my lips

as I began to reflect on moments with you.

The vision of your beautiful face so

radiant against the splendid sky of blue.

I cannot help but wonder what itwas that I might have ever done,

to deserve your tender loving kindness

and your gracious gentle heart have won.

So I count my many blessings this day

And give thanks for my precious life.

But most of all I am eternally grateful for

The sweet woman who will be my wife.

    My Prayer

The soft morning light chases away the chilling darkness

And the silent shadows begin to form in shapes well known

As the sun crawls over the forbidding mountain peaks

Reflecting like white sparkling diamonds on fresh fallen snow

I pause in this awesome splendor to reflect on why I am

To look deep inside me and question all that I desire

Why have I taken the path that I follow each unsuspecting dayHave I done anything worthwhile something someone might admire

My heart is troubled to find an answer that is satisfying here

As I reflect on what I think is good that I have done this year

To recall the times I helped others brings a smile to my face

But I remember all that has not been done and humbly shed a tear

Dear God let me not forget what my life is meant to be

To discover my talents and share them for the good of others

That their lives may be better for all my efforts given

That by my example they might find a way to love their brothers

    Patience

There is a delicious sweetness in the air

When you glide gracefully into the room

I am never sure just how to describe it

But more than often it makes me swoon

There is some thing about your presence

That brings certain comfort to my soul

It stirs warm passions deep within meAnd it always makes me feel whole

I have journeyed through the ages

    And followed countless winding paths

    Searching with relentless determination

Forever seeking to find my better half

Forgetting all the priceless lessonsThat I learned so many times before

Patience is a very valued virtue and

True love is well worth waiting for

    Porch with A View

I sit rocking on the front porch

    Watching the world go by

    Night has quietly fallen

    Darkness has covered the sky

    I gaze across the valley

And the lights they twinkle back

Like the stars up in the heavensThat shed light upon my shack

    The highway down below

    Sends traffic on its way

    They scurry left and right

    Destinations come what may

The only sound that I hearAs these vehicles move along

Is a sound like the ocean surf

    With its never ending song

If I did not know any better

Id think that I was in heaven

But paradise is a good word

To describe where I am livin'

    Priceless

Your value can not be measured in silver or gold

No title will ever be as important as your name

You are respected and loved for the good you do

Teaching and inspiring others will bring you fame

Turn your back on jealous words from those who envy you

For only fools will criticize the treasures of others

They will do all they can just to feel superior

They will even go so far to trash and kill their brothers

Success is such an elusive and flighty state of being

How do we know when we have arrived at that placeWhen we can hold our head high for gratitude given

When our heart is full of joy and a smile is on our face

I stand alone looking out my window

At the still and quiet moon lit night

As I try and solve a haunting puzzleOf what is wrong and what is right

I wish you were here with me

To share your wisdom and advice

If I could only talk to you

On the phone, it would be nice

    Questions

Tender is the grass that comforts my weary head

As I lay back and watch majestic clouds roll by

Silhouetted against the deep blue sky

They have so many shapes and sizes

That it causes me to think and wonder why

Where did all this come from, who made the sky?

How did this tender grass first come to be

And how did these fantastic clouds form

Without any help from you or from me?

How do they know when to let their precious rain

Fall down from heaven upon the tender grass

That I might lie in comfort and enjoy all that has past

Can you answer these questions plain for me

Or do you have more riddles and questions

That only serve to confuse or enlighten me?

    Quiet Moments

There are quiet lonely moments in the day

When I am consumed with thoughts of you.

Your kindness is sweeter than I have ever known. You care for me like I am one of your own children.

I am lost in your lovely eyes and radiant beauty.

So I close my eyes to feel a soft warm hand brush my cheek.

You love me with passion and tenderness unknown.

My lungs are filled with the sweetness of your breath.

You hold the key to my happiness in your heart.

Your love has renewed my life and passion to live.

Let me cherish these fond moments with you forever.

    Reflections

I sit quietly by the cool dark still water

That reflects the vibrant flaming red sunset

I am surrounded by tall majestic pines

That fill the air with their scent so fresh and clean

It occurs to me that I sit in the house of The Lord

Not one built from concrete and steel

But from living wood and natural stone.

As placed there by His Father in Heaven.

What better place to reflect on the meaning of life?

Who am I and why am I here?

What grand and glorious purpose is waiting?

What noble act am I to seek out and perform?

As I sit and ponder these esoteric questions

I watch the colorful birds and charming chipmunksAs they scurry about collecting food and making play

With meaningful purpose and no hint of worry

I pause to consider that I might be on the wrong track

That my purpose in life is not so grand after all

I was not born to save this reckless world

But to provide for those that I love and bring joy where I can

    Release Me

    Where has the love gone?

    Where are the sweet words?

    Where are the compliments?

Where are the promises I once heard?

You placed me on a pedestal.

    You whispered in my ear.

You told me I was beautiful.

You told me I was dear.

    Now you criticize me.

You laugh at what I say.

    You make me feel foolish

    In each and every way.

You come home very late at night.

You wont tell me where you go.You dont take calls I make to you.

What will you let me know?

    I used to feel special.

I thought I was your friend.

    Serenade

What is my love without a lover? It is a sweet poem without words

It is a beautiful song without a tuneIt is a lovely voice never been heard

I never wrote a poem until I met youThen the words appeared out of the blueThey floated so softy down from the air

Landing so gently on the paper with care

The words from my heart created a songSomething that was hidden so very long

It tells of my love for a woman so fine

A beautiful lady I wish would be mine

So now I will sing of my love for youI will share the feelings I know are trueIn hopes that you will soon understandWhat I truly desire is to be your man

    Soul Mate

The first time I gazed upon your face

I thought the sun rose with your smile

The radiance warmed my troubled soul

And filled my heart with hope for the while

What dare I say to such a lovely maiden,

Whose beautiful eyes flashed with life and cheer? My lips trembled as my mind raced to find the words

That would capture your attention and not betray my fear.

Never before have I felt such a presence

Of a spirit so strong and confident yet gentle and kind,

As if her soul I had known from a time before

And the memory is trapped deep inside my mind

I do not know you and still my heart pounds

I feel comfort and yet I am dizzy as I walk your way

Who is this woman that brings my senses to wonder?

I have no explanation but I know I found love this day.

    Sounds of Weeping

In the gentle stillness of the night

    I lay prostrate, peacefully sleeping.

Deep within my dream I am disturbed

By the soft muffled sounds of weeping

I am consumed by this solemn sadness.

Determined the mournful source to find.I venture into the twisted catacombs

Hidden in the labyrinth of my mind.

    Down into the forbidding darkness

I stumble and fall while I try to run.

My thoughts are racing ahead of me

With hope of giving comfort to someone.

After searching every nook and cranny

And giving up the quest with despair,

I realize its my heart thats weeping

Because it is you who is missing there.

I reach out to touch the warm summer breeze

    Sweet Dreams

I wake to the birth of a new day

    And all that lies ahead.

After a night of pleasant slumber

I am reluctant to leave my bed.

As the air rushes into my lungs

It brings life to these weary bones.

    My eyes they open slowly

As I recall one of your poems.

    The words are softly singing,

    Deep within my head,

    Something you were saying

    Before we went to bed.

    Dont worry about tomorrow,

It may never come.Dont worry about today,

    No matter what youve done.

    Thank You

When I walk with you time stands still

The grass is a soft deep luscious green

The air is pure and fresh to breathe

The sky above is filled with a blue so clean

You bring a quiet peace into my heart

That settles and stills all the strifeI can step back and observe the confusion

That constantly whirls around my humble life

With you beside me all seems so easy

That I wonder why I let so much disturb me

And cause me to worry about things unknown

When the answers lay right before me

So I thank you for the time you give me

    Time

Time is but a concept to anchor your anxiety,

To provide justification for all your worry

That tomorrow will arrive before you are ready

So everything today must be done in a hurry.

When we were children time was the element

that kept us from the things we wanted in hand.

It was always separated us of our birthdays,Christmas, summer vacations and Disneyland.

How many times you have you heard it said,

A watched pot never boils; is true and right?

And the theory according to Albert Einstein

Suggests time will stop at the speed of light.

Over the years I have learned the hard wayThat there is a time and place for everything,

anything worth having is worth waiting for,

and all the worry in the world changes nothing.

Take time to enjoy your family and friends

Dont risk losing them before your time ends.

I thought I would sleepWhile on this plane I do fly

    Because it is so peaceful

    Floating across the blue sky

But I cannot find any slumber

Even though I shut out the view

My thoughts are much too busy

Filled with beautiful visions of you

The bloom of an early spring

Paints a blush upon your cheek

    That causes me to reflect

On the day we first did meet

    Your gentle soft sweet smile

Struck me suddenly silent and shyAs if I had met a radiant angel

Who just fell from the sky

I strained to catch the secrets

    Buried behind beautiful dark eyes

That danced and darted before me

Trying to hide the feelings inside

    Turn Me Loose

When I woke up this morning

The sky was dark and brown.

    I looked my bedroom window

And saw the sun was going down

    Why am I so lonely?

    Why do I feel dead?

    I will tell you son

    As soon as Im done

    Crying out my head.

Last night I saw my girlfriendAnd this is what she said,

I know you say you love me

But love for you is dead.

    Why am I so lonely?

    Why do I feel dead?

    I will tell you son

As soon as Im doneCrying out my head.

Well now that it is over

And I know my love was wrong

I guess Ill head on down the road

    Why am I so happy?

    Wake Me Slowly

There is a peaceful awareness in my soul

As I slowly waken with the morning light

That softly rolls across the bedroom floor

Still covered in velvet darkness from the night

The sweet fragrance of night blooming jasmineIs present and most unmistakably clear.

It begs my sullen sleepy senses for attention

And stirs my desire as I fill my lungs with air.

The warmth from your supple slender shape

Reminds me you are close, oh so very near.

So close I can hear the gentle beating of your heart

And feel the silky softness of your raven hair.

    What is Love?

What is love if not a feeling?

Is it something made with care?

    Does come without a warning,

    when were alone and unprepared?

Is it a virus that infects us,digging deep into the heart?

Does it make us weak and helpless,

    bringing fever when it starts?

Should I worry about the outcome,

or walk blindly straight and just

as if nothing could ever harm me

then let it hit me like a bus?

I do not really understand it,

no matter how hard I try.

    Whispers in the Dark

Hush, hush be still my pounding heart.

Listen with intent for whispers in the dark.

My eyelids close shutting out the light.

I do not know whether it is day or night.

What soft sounds float through the air? From far off or are they near?

I listen to the freshly fallen leaves.

That rustle oh so gently in the breeze.

I strain with deliberate focus, my fragile ear,

with tormented dreams and hope to hear

the promising sound of your tiny feet

    gracefully gliding down the street.

And at last when you have do arrive

    Why I love you

The night is still as darkness

steals away the light of day.

    I lay peacefully reviewing the

events that passed by my way.

A smile captures my quiet lips

as I lay there thinking of you.

    The wonderful sweet moments

we spent together, just us two.

Our strolls along the sandy beach

under the romantic star lit night.

    Always makes me feel

    that everything is just right.

    Shopping for the perfect dress

and a pair of matching shoes,

is always something specialwhen I am there with you.

Going out for a quiet dinner

    or taking in a dance.

    Having tender conversations

    Winters Kiss Goodbye

I wake to a soft silky silence

On the very first day of spring

To find the world around me

Dressed in a plush white robe.

There is a sweet solo song

    Of a small chubby chickadee

That chases the pleasant quietAnd welcomes the new dawn.

I stand at a frosted window

And rub away the velvet glaze

To gaze across the frozen meadow

At two spotted fawns engaged in play.

A simple silly smile finds my lipsAs I think of how nature teases us so.

Maybe to remind us what we do

    And certainly do not know.

On the day of a new season

    Winter bids its reluctant goodbye

    With a kiss of remembrance

In the blanket of snow piled high.

    Words of love

You are lovely with the words you write

I cannot help but feel warm and excited

As you dream of me laying in your bed

How I desire to make your fantasies come true

To let you hear my voice whisper softly in your ear

Of your breathless beauty and your intoxicating scent

To hold you close so you can feel the warmth of my bodyAnd the powerful frantic beating of my heart

As you arch your back to press your body against mine

To taste your sweet mouth with deep passionate kisses

That send burning hot shivers shooting down your spine

My senses whirl in the pleasure of your armsAs you wrap your strong shapely legs around me

I am lost in your lustful dream with no way out

Yet I welcome my imprisonment with open arms

I cannot ignore your sweet words of love

I am full of your passion because of them

You make my mind spin with thoughts of you

I will dream sweet dreams of you tonight

    You Made Me Dance

One capricious day I took an adventurous chance

I walked into a studio just to learn how to dance

For me to take that first timid and tenuous awkward step

Was something of a miracle even though totally inept

For no matter how much I desired to move with grace

To step with the rhythm of the song is surely not my pace

Yet you were more patient and encouraged me tryAnd you did not know it but you even made me cry

Your kind thoughtful words, your sweet beautiful smile

Your firm and guiding touch were there all the while

With these special gifts you gave comfort to my soul

With your endless dedication you helped me to grow

I steadily made some progress as weeks slowly went onWith your constant careful coaching to just the right song

I would have given up so quickly without your tender style

But now I can take the dance floor beaming with a smile

So I have come here with roses on this very special day

I know it is your birthday and I have something to say

I never thought my secret dream ever would come true

But because of your exceptional talent I can now dance too

    Your Smile

The sweetness of your lovely smile

    Sends my lonely spirits high.

It gives wings to my humble soul

And with grace allows it to fly.

I listen for the song in your voice

And the wondrous joy that it brings.

Like heavenly music to my ears,It truly makes me want to sing.

Often I lie awake, deep into the night,

Envisioning the beauty of your face.

I close my weary eyes in hope to sleep,

With desires to dream I am at your place.

I would take you in my loving armsAnd hold you so very close to start.

I would softly kiss you tender lips

And share the feelings in my heart.

If there is anything I am sure to know,

Something that is certain to be true.

My dearest you are so very special

And I am hopelessly in love with you.

    Ambush

It was a one of those gruesome days

Much like the hundreds that came before

The sun was bright and hot with no mercy

The air was sticky with mosquitoes galore

    My boots were annoyingly heavy

    Somewhat filled with stinking mud

From the thick ooze in the rice paddies

Through which we had early trudged

But now it was the steaming jungleThat made progress slow and tough

With ninety pounds of food and ammo

Getting through that mess was rough

We eventfully hacked our way through

To a spacious field on the other side

A field with an abandoned railway bed

And void of any cover or place to hide

We sent a squad across the meadow

To recon for anything that might lie ahead

No one was the least bit eager

To cross this pasture and end up dead

I recall time passed ever so slowly

Before they radioed their report back

It was a welcomed break to have a smoke

To dry my feet while sitting on my pack

All clear was the final word

Mount up you filthy stinking toads

Time to get this ugly herd moving

Get this freak show on the road

    Back into the sweltering sun

With weapons, ammo and heavy packs

To march across the wide open prairie

    Without stopping to look back

Then just before the tree line,

The sacred cover that we soughtAll hell broke loose around us

It was chaos the devil brought

We were caught in the middle

    Of a classic horseshoe ambush

The squad that went before us

Had been swallowed by the brush

There was no going forward into

    The blazing machinegun fire

To the rear of us mortar rounds burst

And the quiet field was now on fire

Our radioman is down low and focused

On calling in for close air support

Our platoon commander is quite frantic

Calling for the squad leaders to report

Deadly hot lead was flying though the air

I heard bullets singing past my head

Many were ripping the flesh from my brothers

Tearing out their souls, rendering them dead

Gut wrenching cries for the corpsman

    Were shouted out in vain

His broken bloody body lay motionless

    He had already been slain

There was no time to close my eyesAs I swiftly said a silent prayer

Dear Lord we urgently need your help

Do whatever to get us out of here

Within minutes the blessed jets arrived

Even though it seemed like hours

They dropped their bombs and napalm pods

Then back around with machine gun showers

The horrid nightmare was finally over

Almost as quickly as it had begun

    There were bloated bodies everywhere

Baking in the hellish noon day sun

We started out that treacherous day

With one hundred fifty strong young men

But after the day had been put to rest

Our number was six plus ten
