Autumn Term Monday 15th November 2019 Message from Mrs Stott…. Our Children in Need and Anti-Bullying day has got off to a great start with the children and staff dressed in sports gear and odd socks. Some of the staff look more put together than others!! Mrs Howard has gone the whole hog in her Pudsey Bear onesie - well done Mrs Howard! Your children are really passionate about raising money and share their fundraising ideas often. One of the hallmarks of our school is to be outward facing and want to make a difference far beyond the boundary of our physical school. Our aim is to enable the pupils to leave here as citizens of a wider world, knowing that their personal influence can go far beyond that of LS17, Leeds and the UK. Governing Body Parent Rep elections - Thankyou to those parents who have considered how they can make a difference to our school community by putting themselves forward for the role of Parent Representative on our Governing Body. Voting papers have been coming in this week. May I remind you that we cannot accept them in the count if they are not in the envelopes, as per the letter. Poetry by heart. We have had the privilege of listening to the year groups perform the poems that they have learnt. Recital of poems and verse is a wonderful skill that really helps in later life. The joy of being able to recall poems, songs and such like helps with memory and is something that can be shared with all the family. Perhaps something that you can do at Christmas time too. Please do try and learn those alongside your children. Nursery have braved the chilly weather this week at Harlow Carr. An exhilarating day that I know they all enjoy. Year 3 will be visiting Murton Park next week, which is another immersive day of getting in to an historical role. We appreciate your support with these trips, as without the voluntary contributions we could not run them. We put £20 000 from the school budget in to our school trips, including the Y6 Residential. This enables us to reduce the costs to parents and we have so far not had to cancel a trip but we would not be able to run them without those contributions. I also have to thank those of you who give up your time to accompany classes on trips. Again, we would not be able to do it without you. Thankyou! Please join us for the ‘Free to be Me’ film charity event, 6pm until 6:45pm on Wed 20th November. Enjoy the premiere of the Diversity Defenders anti bullying film (made by and for the children) followed by a the short Stonewall film 'Danni' which encourages us to not be influenced by others and the pressure of stereotypes. To just be yourself and lead your own tribe. 50p ticket on the door (entrance via the hall). Popcorn on sale for 50p. We look forward to seeing you there. Friends and family welcome. Suitable for key stage 2 age children. Mrs Cooper

Everyone is welcome! In Science, Year 2 have been investigating if

nocturnal animals come to school at night. Excitingly, all three classes found footprints in their trap meaning that they do! Can you spot the footprint? Which animal do you think it could be?
