/ FAQ/ABILITIES INTRODUCTION \

o-----------------------o------------------------------o----------------------o

Welcome to the FireRed/LeafGreen Abilities FAQ. This guide was written to give

people more in-depth knowledge of a Pokemon's abilities. All Pokemon have

abilities, which aid them somehow (usually in battle). To view your Pokemon's

ability you can click START -> POKEMON -> [NAME OF POKEMON} -> SUMMARY and

"scroll" several screens to the right. The game gives you only a limited, brief

description of your ability. This guide will give you the full definition.

Some Pokemon, but not all, have more than one ability available to them. One

example is Ralts. There is a 50% chance that it may have Synchronize, and a 50%

chance that it has Trace. The ability is not determined by your game, it is

determined randomly. If you are not satisfied with the trait you have, keep

looking. An example of a single-ability Pokemon is Pikachu. No matter what

level it is, what game you have, or where you catch it, it will always have the

Static ability.

Use your abilities wisely. If you have the Rock Head ability, which prevents

recoil damage, take advantage of that and teach your Pokemon Double-Edge, a

Page 2: Pokemon Firered Leaf Green Version - Abilities

powerful move that normally causes a small HP decrease when used. If you have

the Insomnia ability, which prevents the Sleep condition, don't be stupid and

teach your Pokemon Rest or give it a Chesto Berry (Sleep-prevention) to hold.

When you make good use of your abilities, your battling power, (as well as the

respect of your friends), increases. Have fun!

I am officially finished with this FAQ. I was supposed to add [A]s next to the

Pokemone with two possible abilities, but I never got around to it. I'm sorry!

I'm a senior next year, and the homework load, coupled with college

applications, is proposterously high. Pokemon just isn't a very high priority.

I hope this FAQ still answers some of your questions! As explained in Section

IV, I will still accept emails.

Page 3: Pokemon Firered Leaf Green Version - Abilities

If you have seen the older version of this guide you might remember that it had

each ability, categorized alphabetically, and the official definition (as set

by Nintendo and the Pokemon Company). Now, in version 1.4, instead of putting

the Pokemon-Ability section in a separate area, I have combined the two to make

it easier and to require less scrolling. Bascially, the fomat goes like this:

Name of Ability:

Official Definition:

Related Pokemon:

(This is where I list the Pokemon that have this ability available to them. As

said before, some Pokemon have more than one ability available. I recommend

that you search for a Pokemon's name twice to see if it is one of these double-

ability Pokemon.)

Remember, nothing is perfect. I have tried to make this guide as flawless as

possible, but mistakes will eventually pop up. If you see any error, such as an

unlisted Pokemon, or a mistake with a definition, then please contact me using

the information in Section IV.
