Media Policy means:
An activity which deals “with the organisation of media markets and media performance’ and more specifically, ‘policy tools that are employed to shape the media in a way that promotes their role as facilitators of communication through which public discourse is produced” (Anagnostou, Craufurd Smith and Psychogiopoulou, 2010: 11)
2 @juanmanfredi
Public legal regulation is the most frequently used media policy tool Currently, it seems to be a regulatory vacuum New practices, new devices and new problems This is, sometimes, called “convergence culture” (Jenkins, 2006)
3 @juanmanfredi
Two preliminary conclusions (1) There seems to be more urgent institutional need
to regulate behavior of professionals and non-professionals in online world
(2) The regulation ideas comes from the media owners rather than State or professional bodies

Conclusions
13 @juanmanfredi
(1) New Media have initially brought more freedom and independence to citizens (not necessarily journalists) Blurred frontiers: who is a journalist? (2) Direct political impact & leaks More transparency Anonymity of bloggers (3) Convergence Around devices, but not around functions, media outlets or participation Journalistic rights in new media?
