Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union
01.07.-31.12.2011 Dynamism, positive energy and solidarity are values symbolized by the logo. It depicts Poland as a modern and young-spirited country that initiates positive changes in Europe.
The logo was designed by Jerzy Janiszewski, the author of the now world famous "Solidarity" logo, which became a historic symbol of the Polish way to freedom and democratic transformations in this part of the world.

Cities of the Presidency
The most important meetings of the Presidency are taking place in five Polish cities. These are: Sopot-July Wrocław-September Kraków-October Poznań-November Warsaw-December In many other towns and cities throughout Poland expert meetings and events under the auspices of the Presidency.

Gifts promoting Polish design
Delegates visiting Poland during the Presidency traditionally receive small gifts... Poland decided to promote young Polish designers , minimalism, traditional materials, a modernity alluding to tradition and nature.

Art for Social Change: 1,000 art projects, 170 partner organisations, 60 recurrent events, 184 cultural days

International cultural programme
I, Culture: 400 projects, 10 capitals, 10 time zones, 100 days Projects in: Brussels, Berlin, Kiev, London, Madrid, Minsk, Moscow Paris, Beijing, Tokyo. Mainstays of the programme: Karol Szymanowski, Czesław Miłosz, Stanisław Lem, Beats of Freedom, I, Culture Puzzle. Modern crafts workshop and I, Culture Orchestra. Polish projects organized by the Adam Mickiewicz's Institute in cooperation with Polish and international partners will be presented at top galleries, stages, clubs and festivals: Bozar, La Monnaie in Brussels, National Theater, Whitechapel Galery, London Jazz Festival in London, Martin Gropius Bau in Berlin, Teatro Real in Madrid. Numerous cultural projects by Polish Institutes in 22 cities of Europe and the USA and hundreds of public and cultural diplomacy projects organized by over 100 Polish embassies all over the world.
Polish Cuisine
The Polish Presidency is a great opportunity to promote Polish cuisine. One of the top Polish chefs, Adam Chrząstowski, oversees the selection of the exquisite menu of Polish dishes based on the native ingredients, served at the high-level meetings in Poland and Brussels. Foreign delegations and journalists visiting Poland during the Presidency will be additionally presented with a collection of recipes for Polish dishes which were specially prepared by 16 chefs, including three from abroad, who on a daily basis work in best Polish restaurants. The starting point for each of the recipes is an ingredient commonly associated with Polish cuisine, ,e.g. herring, cucumbers, grits, poppy seed, venison). Every recipe is preceded by a description of the ingredient along with its cultural context which is comprehensible to foreigners. The publication is enhanced by the modern illustrations.

Its 208 pages present a coherent, transparent and up-to-date overview of the most significant areas of economic, social and cultural life in Poland (8 chapters). It draws attention to those places, people and phenomena that prove Poland to be a country with rich traditions, which is at the same time creative, modern and dynamic.
