Political science study is an excellent background for law, foreign affairs, government service, journalism, politics and related fields. The BSC Political Science program provides the first two years of study toward a bachelor’s degree. It is designed to help all students gain knowledge and understanding of politics and government entities. The curriculum focuses on local, state and federal government structures and issues and statistics and economics. Students completing the requirements earn an Associate in Arts degree. Employment of political scientists is projected to grow 21 percent through 2022. Candidates with a graduate degree, strong writing and analytical skills, or specialized knowledge or experience in policy analysis should have the best job prospects.
