A Note from Pastor Janet Greetings! On Sunday, we will celebrate the Festival of God's creation! It iseasy for those of us lucky enough to live in Montana to look outour windows and be in awe of God's handiwork, and like you andme, the United Methodist Church has long been dedicated to thestewardship of the created world. Here are some of the many ways the UMC is committed to caringfor God's world: As disciples of Christ, we are called to be good stewards of God'screation. Accordingly, we call upon The United Methodist Church toadopt fresh ways to respond to the perils that now threaten theintegrity of God's creation and the future of God's children. Specifically, The United Methodist Church:
designates one Sunday each year, preferably the Sundayclosest to Earth Day, as a Festival of God's Creation,celebrating God's gracious work in creating the earth and allliving things, incorporating it into the church's liturgicalcalendar, and developing appropriate ways for congregationsto celebrate it;
endorses The Clergy Letter Project and its reconciliatoryprograms between religion and science, and urges UnitedMethodist clergy participation;
endorses the work of the National Religious Partnership forthe Environment, and the World Council of Churches ClimateChange Program and urges conferences and congregations tosupport their activities and programs;
supports the annual observance of the United Nations' WorldEnvironment Day and encourages conferences and churchesto participate in programs such as Environmental Sabbath;
recommends that annual conferences establish annualawards to honor prophetic defenders of God's creation from
within their own constituencies;
affirms the importance of nurturing, communitybuildingapproaches such as the Global Action Plan's Household EcoTeam Program designed to foster resource efficient lifestylepractices;
encourages a simplified and environmentally sound lifestylethroughout the church and requests that Church agencies,conferences, and congregations be stewards of God'screation by reducing levels of consumption and participatingin programs that reuse and recycle goods; and
encourages United Methodist institutions to perform energyaudits, improve energy efficiency, and pursue use ofalternative clean energy sources such as wind and solarpower where available.

The discussionwas related to how we as Christians make both small andimmense decisions each day that can culminate into lifechangingpaths that lead us to choose lifegiving or deathdealingthoughts/behaviors/relationships. A NEW PLACE TO BE: SPIRITUAL BIRTH & RENEWAL
