Abu Dhabi International Airport is one of the fastest growing airports in the world. The 700,000 square metre building is one of the most crucial projects undertaken in Abu Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates and is scheduled to complete in 2019. Expected to handle 27-30 million passengers each year, the ambitious design required a robust, reliable and environmentally friendly drainage and ventilation solution that would eliminate bad odors whilst avoiding a need for unsightly open venting through the roof. Easy to install and cost effective, the innovative Terrain Pleura system was chosen thanks to its specific technology which balances the internal air within a drainage system, protects water trap seals and minimises unpleasant drainage smells. The Terrain Pleura is an accepted alternative to conventional branch and stack venting. With localised active ventilation of the building drainage system it has been proven that the Terrain Pleura provides greater protection to prevent induced and self-siphonage of the fixture traps. The Terrain Pleura is typically used as an alternative to extending vent pipes through the roof or side wall, and by avoiding the need for unsightly roof penetrations, the Terrain Pleura system helped turn the ambitious and impressive design of Abu Dhabi’s International Airport Midfield into a reality. Abu Dhabi International Airport is one of

the fastest growing airports in the world.

The 700,000 square metre building is one of

the most crucial projects undertaken in Abu

Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates and is

scheduled to complete in 2019.

Expected to handle 27-30 million passengers

each year, the ambitious design required a

robust, reliable and environmentally friendly
