PYC Basketball ProgramOn Dec. 11, 2010 the Porter Youth Center Youth Basketball program sent 8 participants to test their skills in the Elks Hoopshoot Freethrow Competi-tion at the Boys & Girls Club in Sea-side, organized by the Elks Lodge in Monterey. The participants were the top finishers in the local contest held on Nov. 20 at PYC. The competition was for boys and girls ages 9-13. The event on Dec. 11 was a combined event for all Monterey Peninsula Recreation programs. Each contestant attempted 25 freethrows (10 in round 1 and 15 in round 2) and who had the highest total number from both rounds won the competition. The competition had some exciting mo-ments including 2 Porter participants (Will Cepress and Jhalin Johnson) who were tied with 2 other competi-tors and had to compete in shootouts to determine the winners. The Veterinary Treatment Facility (VTF) offers vaccinations, an out-patient clinic, heart worm testing, microchip identification, health certificates, pet registration and over-the-counter sales. General information, over-the-counter sales, prescription refills, appointment scheduling, pet registration, and record sign-outs are available during normal office hours. Call for appointment dates and times.When does your pet need a physical exam?Every pet should have a yearly exam with the veterinarian. Pets over the age of seven should have exams every six months. Pets age at a more rapid rate than people. Early detection of problems increases treatment success. California law requires a minimum of one exam per year at the distributing facility for prescription medications. This establishes your doctor patient relationship.
