The Greater Pompano Beach Cham-

Staton, of Furman Insurance as a new
member of the chamber’s board of di-
rectors.
Furman Insurance, in business for 50
years, recently sold the entity to the
former Pompano Beach Chamber
Chair Dirk DeJong (1999-2001). Mr.
DeJong was an employee for 27 years
– he, Rob Foote and Carlos Chinchilla
(all employees for more than 20 years)
recently purchased the agency when
its founder Frank H. Furman retired.
“This allows the Furman agency to
continue with its commitment to
its customers and community – our
founding principles,” said Dejong. “We
have 60 employees and we’re very
committed to Pompano and the local
area.”
Furman Insurance has been actively
involved with the Chamber for many
years. And pleased that Ronnie Staton
is a new Director for the Chamber.
“She’s a star employee and we’re re-
ally proud of her,” said Dejong. ”Staton
was previously an Ambassador for the
Chamber and she did a great job.”

Five years ago, Jon Saluk moved to Pompano Beach, because, well, he had a friend in the neighborhood. Saluk, an in-dependent sales representa-tive for American Credit Card Processing Corporation imme-diately got involved with the Greater Pompano Beach Cham-ber of Commerce.“I’m a real big proponent of get-ting active in the local chamber of commerce,” said Saluk. “It’s good for business and it’s good to help the community.”At ACCPC, Saluk said that work-ing with him puts a face to the company and a cell phone in the hand of the business owner.“If you have an issue, question, problem, you get my experi-ence – you have my cell phone, call me, not a call phone tree in Sri Lanka to get the answer,” said Saluk. At ACCPC, specific services in-clude credit card processing any way you want your cus-tomer to pay you, from a retail, store, a restaurant to selling on the Internet to even mobile phone options for SmartPhone, Androids, iPhones, etc…Being involved has definitely helped Saluk generate new business leads. Since he has moved here, Saluk has been an ambassador, chair of the ambassadors group, (he was
ambassador of the year several years ago), has been on the golf committee, in the enterprise group The Originals as well as co-chairing the Fine Food & Wine for a second time in 2013.
“From a business perspective, I have definitely gotten a fair share of credit card processing – being in the chamber gives your business credibility, especially if you do the processing for the chamber,” said Saluk. “And the more time you spend with peo-ple in the chamber, people get to know you.”Contact Jon:[email protected]

Mediterraneo Cafe opens! On Feb. 6, the Greater Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting at Mediterraneo Grill and Café Cucina Siciliana located four blocks north of Atlantic Blvd. in Pompano Beach. Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce CEO/Pres-ident is on a mission to meet every member, of the North Broward business organization face to face. Each month select members of the Chamber are being invited to the chamber office for coffee and donuts with the Chief Executive, Ric Green and the other members of the Chamber team. Pictured is the group that gathered in February.
Green says the purpose of these meetings is to dis-cuss the purpose of membership, to understand what can be done to improve the member’s expe-rience and to learn more about the members busi-nesses.
Additionally he and his team will share community news and local business developments with at-tendees.
“This is not a typical Chamber event,” said Green. “But networking and business exposure are cer-tainly going to be by-products of the meeting.”
