From Pastor Doug
Are you a morning person? Are there
some days when you are a morning
person? Mary Magdalene and the
other Mary must have been so
delighted that on that first Easter long
ago they were up early. The morning
star was probably still visible, as the
sun began to color the sky above the
hills that surround Jerusalem. The
grass was still wet with dew, and the
birds were the only sounds breaking
the silence.
Until...
The angel of the Lord went to work. The angel did three things early that
morning:
1. The angel rolled back the stone. That action was like an earthquake!
2. The angel of the Lord sat upon the stone. That must have been a siight
3. The angel of the Lord spoke to the women.
The Roman guards trembled, but the women listened.
This Easter we have a choice as well. We can tremble at all of the things that
frighten us: economic fears, health worries, life's anxieties. Or we can listen to the
amazing news that Jesus conquered death and left the tomb. And now he lives.
And if he lives, I live.
Easter worship is April 8 at 9am and 11am. Bring your family and relive the
moment when the angel of the Lord went to work, and the Lord of Life
conquered death!
Matthew 28
Now after the sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary
Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the sepulchre. And behold, there was a
great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and
rolled back the stone, and sat upon it. His appearance was like lightning, and his
raiment white as snow. And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like
dead men. But the angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid; for I know that you
seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for he has risen, as he said. Come, see
the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from
the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. Lo, I
have told you." So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and
ran to tell his disciples.

Caring For Our Neighbors
The last few weeks we have been observing the message of “Love Without Limits”. I pray that this love will
transform us into being messengers of His love by responding to the requests for the LWR “Personal Care Kits”.
These kits will bring the message of love around the world to thousands of needy people. Items for each kit includes:
One light or medium weight bath size towl (approximately 52” x 27”) [dark colored recommended]
Two bath size bars (4-5 oz) soap, any brand in original wrapping
One adult size toothbrush in its original wrapping
One sturdy comb (remove packaging)
One metal nail clipper (remove packaging)
The “Blue Bin” for these items is by the church office.
The “CART” is still accepting non-perishable food items for the YWCA.
It is also time to prepare for the “Nokomis Day Care Centers” geranium sales.
“Father in heaven, I sometimes forget to thank you for your generous blessings. Remind me that they are not mine to
keep, but to be shared with those who struggle with less.” Amen
