Pop Art started in the mid 1950s in England, but realized its fullest potential in New York in the 1960s where it grabbed the attention of the art

world. In Pop Art, the epic was replaced with the everyday and the mass-produced awarded the

same significance as the unique; the gap between ``high art'' and ``low art'' was eroding away.

Andy Warhol was the most famous and influential artist of

the the pop art movement. Warhol often used everyday

object to inspire or create his art. Unlike many artists before him Warhol often made work that

could be produced in large numbers.

Roy Lichtenstien’s comic book paintings became one of the most recognisable styles of the

‘pop art’ movement.

Claes Oldenburg worked in

many different mediums but is most famous for his ‘soft

sculpture's’ and large scale

sculptures of everyday objects.

Rosenquist produced large murals often depicting what was happening in the world

around him.

Often images were mixed in a surrealist

way.

people derived most of their visual

pleasure, television, magazines, comics or even objects around
