WHAT IS POP ART? 1960s pop culture art: an art

movement in the 1950s to 1970s that incorporated modern popular culture and the mass media. It included such artists as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein.

This movement explored the kitsch and was supposed to be easily understood

1. Artist Jim Dine lives in Ohio. Among his popular series of paintings and sculptures are his Hearts. Dine’s series usually contain an appealing interplay of shadow and light between the main object and the background. This effect, combined with Dine's interesting surfaces, make his works a pleasure to see.

He uses traditional painting techniques incorporated with collage, printing, etching, and paper-making.

JIM DINE’S HEARTS He often times used the heart and continued his harsh shadows Many times they would have an abstract, repeated pattern
