DEVELOPMENT IN PORT COOGEENews from Frasers Property

Joke day Tueday!Well wasn’t our first JOKE DAY TUESDAY A CRACKER? Some awesome contributions from our residents. I am sure those of you who joined the Port Coogee Neighbours Facebook page were in stitches like I was. Thanks to you all for having crack at it.

Our WINNER WAS - Jack Fretwell and the joke was -What’s E.T. Short for? Because he’s got little legs! And may I say my personal favourite was from Paul Berry - 2 Cannibals in the Jungle eating a clown, one says to the other: “Does this taste funny to you?”

Gather your jokes because another one is planned!

Ocean Walk has had a great response. Blocks have been snatched up quickly. Just a short stroll to the Port Coogee waterfront. This new release is perfect for the new modern coastal homes. Perfect for people downsizing or for anyone looking for easy living, lock up and leave or just a simpler life near the coast. Blocks range in sizes and orientations.

Medina Cove - Will you be one of the lucky 7? The easy-care front-loaded lots, accessed off Medina Parade, are perfectly suited to today’s modern home designs. Less than 150m walking distance to the Marina Beach.

Coogee Live wasa great success

EVENTSIt’s become obvious that PC residents LOVE their local events. There has been feedback and discussions about “WE WANT MORE!” Winter is only around the corner and the only event planned is a series of food truck nights running through April into May. This will be a very low key event with the opportunity for residents to grab a food truck dinner. Further details will be posted on the Port Coogee Neighbours Facebook page. So if you have not joined then please do so. This way you can keep well informed on what’s happening. If you’re not on Facebook and would like to be kept up to date on events and news via email, please email your first and last name and best email address to [email protected]

Did you get down to the events in your beautiful Port Coogee (PC)?

SECURITY & SAFETY ACTION GROUP:• Establish a resident Community Safety Group• Engage with Council, WA Police, Neighbourhood Watch

and other decision-making bodies to improve approach/strategies to tackling crime/safety

• Educate/engage residents on how to minimise likelihood of crime and property damage

• Security and safety extends to the greater Cockburn area – Discussions with Council to join up with North Coogee and Coogee Beach communities through Neighbourhood Watch

• Improve patrols, cameras, lighting, police presence at night, private security to supplement CoSafe, incident reporting, road illumination options, CCTV at the estate entry points, lower speed limits, speed bumps and bollards

• Antisocial behaviour near old power station, camping on beaches and carparks, illegal fishing on vacant land and private jetties, theft from shopping centre and security around the marina

LEVIES Concerns re the following:Reallocate levy funds from general account into dedicated reserve fund. Commence consultation with residents on how the levy is spent. Increase focus on security - CCTV was put forward.

CoSafe:Its role, responsibility and jurisdiction needs to be clearly communicated to residents. How effective and what positives have come from the service to the community? What percentage of rates or levy goes towards CoSafe security patrols?

PUBLIC REALM:Pavers damaged by event trucks near Omeo Park. Street lighting and why street lights are so dull and off at times. Parking, cars

EVENTS/IDEAS/SOLUTIONS:Council fees for vendors, use vacant lots for parking, future use of Sales Office, improve community engagement, meet ups, networking, dog park with fencing, goal posts, playgrounds, bike racks, community notice board more prominent, residents group, more to do for families and elderly - intergenerational activities, invite dog trainers, wine and cheese nights, street parties, rolling/progressive street/food parties, cooking competitions, best flowers, biggest caterpillar in your garden!Pot luck sharing food night, Easter bunny trail, night rides, farmers markets, wine truck, structured Halloween, cycle groups, walking groups, canoing, marina Christmas lights

BUILDING PARTNERSHIPSConnect with the South Beach Community Group to understand how they improved playgrounds and other achievements and highlights. Coogee Beach Progress Association, Playground WA and ABC, Cockburn Senior Centre, build relationships with local businesses.

The entire meeting was productive and furthers notes are available. If you would like the entire list please send an email [email protected] (a local resident volunteer).

Another meeting was held on the 18th April 2018 focusing only on security and safety issues. The notes were not available prior to this newsletter going to print.

The first Port Coogee community meeting was held on Wednesday 28 March 2018. Organised by Frasers Property and facilitated by element for the community to come together to discuss important issues. A short summary of some discussions below:
