2020 Diocesan Services Appeal - St. Lucie Parish Goal: $199,000

The 2020 DSA campaign: Our Faith in Action is well underway. As a spiritual community, we need to respond to the wider Church as expressed by Bishop Gerald Barbarito. Our 2020 parish goal of $199,000 is only attainable with the support of the entire parish working together! If you return your contribution to St. Lucie Parish, your name will be noted ONCE in one of our May bulletins. There will not be a cumulative weekly listing. Due to technical difficulties, those contributions sent directly to the Diocese of Palm Beach will not be

included in the bulletin lists but be assured that our parish will have an accounting of all contributions in the weeks ahead. Prayerfully consider what you can return to God by supporting and enriching Christian lives in our Palm Beach Diocese. Let us work together in committing ourselves to this year’s campaign. Your contribution, whether mailed directly to the Diocese of Palm Beach or to St. Lucie Parish, is tremendously appreciated!

To date, we have 487 donors donating $134,947 in cash and pledges.

BEQUESTS TO ST. LUCIE PARISH

“As generous distributors of God’s manifold grace, put your gifts at the service of one another…” (Peter 4:10) As Catholics, we try to be Good Stewards of the many blessings God has bestowed upon us. We also strive to be good short term and long-term planners, so that our loved ones, and our Church and other charities are recipients of these blessings. Effective estate planning not only avoids future difficulties, but more importantly, honors our directives in aiding the people and institutions that are under our responsible care. Remembering St. Lucie Catholic Church will continue the Lord’s saving presence to us and to our families in so many wonderful ways: the celebration of the Eucharist and other Sacraments, the religious education of our youth and adults, our ministries with the sick, the poor and the homeless, and the upkeep of our parish facilities. Consider including our parish in your estate planning – it is a joy you can plan ahead.

CHURCH VOTIVE CANDLES

Our church votive candles can be dedicated to the memory of a loved one. Their name will be inscribed on the candle commemorative plate and the candle will be lit for a year. If you would like to have your loved one memorialized in this special way, please visit the parish office during regular office hours. The donation is $150.00 per candle per year.

CHURCH PROTOCOLS … THE NEW NORMAL As of Sunday, May 31, Pentecost Sunday, the normal Sunday Mass schedule will resume for attendance by the faithful. The following protocols will be carefully observed for the common good:

1. Appropriate social distancing will be observed. Except for families and couples, this means a spacing of 6 feet and the use of every other pew.

2. It is highly recommended that facemasks be utilized while in church except for the reception of Holy Communion. Appropriate hand sanitizers and safety wipes should be used. One must be careful to sanitize hands after arriving in church, before the reception of Holy Communion, and after leaving church. Care must also be taken not to touch one’s face during the Mass.

3. Holy water fonts will remain empty.

4. Only a cantor and an instrumentalist will be utilized for limited liturgical singing at the present time. Choirs and instrumental ensembles will not be present.

5. Only one reader is necessary, if at all.

6. There will be no altar servers for the present time.

7. Hymnals and other liturgical aids will not be available.

8. The priest or deacon will give a brief homily from the ambo or sanctuary but not in the midst of the congregation.

9. There will be no offertory procession for the presentation of the gifts.

10. The line for the reception of Holy Communion will also follow appropriate distancing. It is highly recommended, for the safety of others as well as the recipient, that the option of receiving the Eucharist in the hand be employed at this time.

11. Except for the celebrant, there will be no reception of the Precious Blood by intinction from a different chalice than that of the main celebrant.

12. The priest, deacon or extraordinary minister will wear a face mask for the distribution of Holy Communion. No gloves are to be worn by the minister or recipient.

13. There will be no sign of peace, greeting of peace before Mass or the holding of hands during the Our Father.

14. There will be no collections taken during the Mass. However, there will be collection boxes at the entrance of the church or by the sanctuary for the faithful to place their offerings. It is also recommended that online contributions be utilized. While the economic limitation imposed by this situation may be limiting to some, the continued support of parishes for the service of the faithful is needed and appreciated.

15. Churches will be appropriately sanitized.

16. There will be ushers and parish assistants available in the churches to help accommodate these protocols.

17. There will be as few people as possible in the sacristy before and after Mass. There can be no public gatherings before or after Mass.

18. The celebrant and ministers will generally process to and from the sacristy.

19. When in doubt, always err in the side of caution.

20. The live streaming of Masses in our parishes will continue.

All throughout the history of the Church, God has worked through the hands of artists to tell His Story, and proclaim the Truth that He is - from Saint Joseph to Saint Luke, from Blessed Fra Angelico to Saint Catherine of Bologna, in ink and paint, in song and music, and now, in this time in history, through the art of film. Inspired by this example, the clergy and staff of Saint Lucie Catholic Church invite you to join us for a series of different programming on FORMED. We'll bring programming from FORMED to you for 7 weeks, beginning this Saturday. Some will be documentaries, some of them stories - each of them unique, and all of them engaging. Each Saturday will bring a different selection for the week, which we encourage you to share with those in your home, and with those that aren't with you. Each following Sunday, we'll be sending along special points of discussion so that you can examine, analyze, and explore each title with your family, friends and loved ones. To sign up for FORMED (if you haven't already), just go to formed.org/signup... , type in your parish (Saint Lucie Catholic Church), supply your email address and name, and you should be properly registered. Should all else fail, go to stlucie.cc for directions (found on our home page). If you have questions, we're here to help! Let's engage in discussion with our family, friends, and fellow parishioners in this time of separation, and try to use the time given by God as best we can. May God Love, Bless, and Keep You!
