THE FLAME OF LOVE ROSARY
Mary’s “Cause”, the Flame of Love Movement, is her call to save souls from the dangers of sin, which are so prevalent. The Flame of Love is an extra-ordinary grace which comes from Mary’s Immaculate Heart to us at this time in history. The Flame of Love is Jesus, Himself, who desires to empower faithful souls to combat the evils of sin, lukewarmness, and indifference. The Flame of Love Movement revives tepid souls enabling them to embrace: daily Mass and Rosary, Eucharistic Adoration Holy Hours, Fasting, forming Prayer Cenacles of Reparation and becoming part of a community devoted to spreading the Flame of Love. Every Thursday, all are welcome to pray this special rosary at 7:15 PM sharp in the church. Wear your mask and please, social distance!
ST. LUCIE HAS A NEW CAMERA!
Thanks to our St. Lucie CCW, St. Lucie has a new camera to stream masses! Images are clearer than ever and streaming is being used by more parishioners than ever. Video streaming begins 15 minutes before each liturgy. Liturgies will be archived for one week so you will be able to access a particular mass during the week. The new church camera was installed on our website: www.stlucie.cc. To view, open our website. Next, click the “video” button (found just below the sliding pictures). The “Live Stream” broadcast box will be the first box you will see (shown at the top of this column). In order to view the new camera, click on the icon triangle that sits on the red “Live” view. It is that easy. Further down, the 24-hour Live Feed is the old camera and operates 24 hours a day. (It is not as clear as the new camera.) The Chapel camera will broadcast when we are using the Chapel again for liturgies.

THURSDAY SOUP KITCHEN During this pandemic, we haven’t been able to offer hot meals in our hall on Thursdays, but we have found another way to help those in need. At noon on Thursdays we hand out boxed/bagged hot lunches! This is another good reason why we welcome food donations. St. Lucie Parish’s approach to noon lunches is just one piece of a puzzle to make life easier to those who need it most.
Habits are either the best of servants or the worst of masters.
ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT
Eucharistic Adoration is the adoration of Jesus Christ present in the Holy Eucharist. A consecrated host, the Holy Eucharist, is placed in a special container attached within a standing cross called a “Monstrance.” The cross reminds us of Christ’s love given for mankind’s sins so that we might have eternal life. The Holy Eucharist is Jesus Christ and although it does not look like the body and blood of Jesus, His Real Presence is hidden within the appearance of the consecrated host. This is a great mystery, something we are not capable of fully rationalizing but we know it to be truth. People come in reverence to pray and worship before the Holy Eucharist on display for certain hours and/or specified days. At Saint Lucie Parish, we have Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament every Thursday and every First Friday of the Month in the church after the 8:30 AM. Mass and this continues until 5:00 PM ending with Benediction on Thursdays and First Friday. We also display the Monstrance at other specified times. Always, there is a sign-up sheet for those desiring to commit themselves in prayer and in presence of the Blessed Sacrament. Usually, we sign our names for an hour designating that we will be present. This is done never to have Jesus left alone!
OUR LADY OF FATIMA ROSARY Please attend the Rosary for Our Lady of Fatima and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy this coming Tuesday, September 1st beginning at 6:30 PM in the Church. If you cannot be there in person, follow us live on the church’s website at stlucie.cc. Bring your intentions for Our Lady’s intercession to Her Son, Jesus Christ. All are welcome.

ABOUT CONVALIDATION
Convalidation is the means by which a marriage celebrated outside the Catholic Church (a civil marriage or one in a church of another faith tradition) is recognized as valid and receives the formal blessing of the Catholic Church. In the Catholic Church marriage is a sacrament. Without a marriage celebrated within the Catholic Church (unless they have a dispensation), Catholics must refrain from taking Holy Communion or acting as witnesses/sponsors for Baptism or Confirmation. Even if a couple married outside the Church years ago, they may enter into a Convalidation. Our priests are always eager to sit down with a couple and begin the steps so that their marriage may be blessed.
Parish Guidelines for the Convalidation of a Marriage:
1. Convalidation presumes that both parties are free in the eyes of the Church to marry one another in the first place. Any individual (Catholic or not) who has had a previous marriage and whose former spouse is still living will require an annulment prior to convalidation. (An annulment may take around a year, so plan accordingly. A date for convalidation may not be set until the annulment is approved.)
2. Couples seeking convalidation must contact the Church and make an appointment with a priest at least six months prior to the anticipated date of the ceremony.
3. As part of the preparation for convalidation, a copy of the Civil Marriage License will be required. In addition, the Catholic spouse(s) will be required to present a copy of their Baptismal Record, recently issued (no more than six months old) by the original church of baptism of that individual.
WHAT IS THE 2020 CENSUS? The census is a count of every person who lives in the United States and its territories. It happens every 10 years. It includes a few simple questions about things like age, sex, and the number of people who live in your home. The 2020 Census will collect the same data as the 2010 Census. The U.S. Census Bureau is partnering with faith-based institutions to promote the 2020 Census. These institutions volunteered to help because they understood how important a complete count is for their congregants and community. They are trusted voices in their communities and are critical to conveying the importance of the 2020 Census. In addition, faith communities often serve the same people that use many of the federal programs that receive funding based on census data. These programs include those that address poverty, hunger, homelessness, childcare, emergency services, and public safety. The U.S. Census Bureau asks about race and ethnicity in the decennial census, but it does not collect information about religious affiliation because U.S. law prohibits this. Being counted matters for you and your community regardless of your religious affiliation. The 2020 Census will determine how many representatives your state will have in Congress. Census results will also help determine how billions of dollars in federal funding are allocated to states and communities each year for housing, schools, food assistance, health care, and other vital services. The 2020 Census is confidential. The U.S. census Bureau is required to protect your privacy and keep your answers confidential. By law, your personal information cannot be used against you or anyone else by any government agency or court, and it can’t be accessed by the police department, DHS, ICE, FBI, or CIA. For more information, visit: 2020CENSUS.GOV.

SAN VICENTE DE PAUL
Vicente significa: "Vencedor, victorioso"
