USING THE SECOND CONDITIONAL

The second conditional is used to talk about things which are unreal (not true or not possible) in the present or the future -- things which don't or won't happen:

Example ExplanationIf I were you, I would drive more carefully in the rain.

I am not you — this is unreal.

Paula would be sad if Jan left.Jan will not leave — that's not going to happen.

If dogs had wings, they would be able to fly.

Dogs don't have wings — that's impossible.

WHICH HAS HAPPENED RECENTLY

CHANGES IN IMPORTS OF TELEVISIONS AND PHONES

The measures amending two previous resolutions of the entity, 63 and 67, through the new tariffs which were set for about 80 products and fixed quotas, both in dollars and units, to purchase phones from abroad from 33 importers. The latter decision, according to a

preferred importer mobile reserve was taken in haste and there was inequity in the distribution of quotas."We sent letters and had meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Production Coordinator for review the issue. We applied the wrong criteria and had to restate. To the extent I think the situation is more fair, "he said. The quota changes were representative for the largest importers. A Otecel (Movistar), for example, was assigned a quota of USD 25.1 million, surpassing the original $ 24 million. The increased state is also CNT the share of U.S. $ 4.8 million to $ 11.9 million. As of press time, none of these importers, who are also operators, spoke. Sure, a company which reduced the quota of USD 79.5 million to USD 57.2 million, issued no comment on the decision. Those who did speak were marketers like Luis Ayala, manager of Dr. Cell.

ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF HAVING CELL

Page 10: Portafolio of english

· Its low cost. Currently, there are phones that integrate video and audio programs like Skype conference call where anyone in the world is free.

· I can combine multiple applications, such as text messages, voice messages, access to social networks, camera, etc.

· Can difundidir news and facts relevant to global

· When the mainstream media have been silenced, social networks via mobile phones have helped to clear the truth

disadvantages of cell phone use are

We are in a globalized world where technologies are already part of our lives, however we must pay attention and caution in the overuse of cell phones in adults and especially children.

THE NATURAL DISASTERS

CLIMATE CHANGE IN ECUADOR

In recent years, Ecuador has experienced severe changes in temperature: floods in various parts of the country, droughts in the south, forest fires in the Andes, reduced snow cover and glaciers in the snow-capped volcanoes, short winters, to name a few.

Page 12: Portafolio of english

The change in temperature has a major impact on biodiversity of EcuadorPredictions alert to greater fluctuation in temperature and an increase in extreme weather.

Other things you may experience Ecuador as a result of climate change are:* Temperatures of extreme heat in winter

  * Loss of agricultural and forestry production due to changes in climatic parameters

* Increased risk of flooding in low lying coastal areas, including the Gulf of Guayaquil and Jambelí

* Increase the impact to roads, bridges, buildings and infrastructure in general due to changing climatic conditions;

* Risk of water distribution and drainage of coastal waters

* Risk of water pollution due to increased bacteria, living organisms, Untimely storms or floods

*Loss of biodiversity sensitive to temperature changes

* Damage and loss of wildlife habitat

Using the Simple Present

We sometimes use the simple present form to

discuss future events. Especially when talking

about official events that happen at a set time such

as timetables, meetings, itineraries, programmes

etc.

THE DIFFERENT FORMS OF

Page 13: Portafolio of english

For example:

Q) "What time does the train leave?" A) "It leaves at 17.30."

Q) "What time does the meeting begin tomorrow?" A) "It begins at 8.00am."

Q) "What time do you arrive at the airport tomorrow?" A) "I arrive at 6.30pm."

Using the Present Continuous

The future continuous tense is the present continuous tense recycled. It is often

used to ask about and discuss future arrangements or plans with just the

addition of a future time, but you only use it when these arrangements are

certain.

For example:

Q) What are you doing next week?" A) "I'm working."

Q) What's he doing tomorrow?" A) "He's playing tennis."

The present continuous tense is also used to talk about and make future

appointments and arrangements using the words go or come....

For example:

Q) When are you coming to see me?" A) "Next week."

Q) What are you doing tomorrow?" A) "I'm going to the dentist."

...and using verbs of arrival and departure.

"We're arriving in London at 2.30."

"The train leaving from platform one is the 2.45 to Edinburgh."

The Future Continuous (will be doing)

The use of 'will be doing' in a sentence is often referred to as the future

continuous. It is used to talk about activities that will be happening at a

particular time or over a particular time in the future.

THE DIFFERENT FORMS OF

Page 14: Portafolio of english

For example:

Next week we will be having a party. Can you come?

You can also use it (or the present continuous form) to talk about future plans.

For example:

We will be leaving here at 7.30pm.

Using the Present Perfect Simple

Discussing the future using the present perfect simple form

You can use the present perfect simple form to say that something will have

happened by a certain time in the future.

"This time next year I will have finished my exams."

Discussing the future using the present perfect continuous form (also

known as the future perfect continuous using will have been doing).

You can use the present perfect continuous form to say how long something will

have been happening by a certain time in the future.

"This time next year I will have been teaching English for 9 years.

Discussing the future using going to

We say something is going to happen when it has already been planned.

For example:-

Q) Are you going to fly to Germansy?

A) No, we're going to drive.

We also use it to show something has already been decided.

For example:-

Page 15: Portafolio of english

"We're going to buy a new car next year."

We also use going to when we can see something is about to happen.

For example:-

"Look at that cloud. I think it's going to rain."

"Watch out! He's going to crash into that tree!"

You can also use going to to predict the future based upon the evidence now.

For example:-

"It looks as though Manchester United are going to win the European cup.

"I think my friend Louise is going to have a baby."

!Note

Thanks to Ken Anderson for pointing out the following:-

"I'm going to Germany." isn't really the future tense. You would have to say

"I'm going to go to Germany."

Discussing the future using shall/will

When we give information about the future or predict future events that are not

certain we usually use shall/will.

For example:-

Q) Who do you think will win the election?" A) "I'm not sure but I think the

current party will win."

We can also use shall/will to make promises for the future.

Page 16: Portafolio of english

When leaving work I would say - "Goodnight, I'll (I will) see you tomorrow."

Shall/Will is often used when we just decide to do something.

For example:-

The phone is ringing - If I decide to answer the phone I would say - "I'll (I will)

get it."

It can also be used in formal situations to express planned events and is

preferred in formal written English.

For example:-

The party will start at 10.00pm.
