The Portal has interfaces for
healthcare professionals, researchers,
librarians, and other interested
parties.
The drug information is pulled from a number of government agencies including the Food & Drug Administration and the National Cancer Institute.
In the search form we type “Primatene Mist” and press
“Go”.
The information concerning the
active ingredient “epinephrine” is
displayed in three categories;
summary, detailed summary, and
additional resources.
Passing the mouse pointer over the link
displays a brief description of the type of
information available from the result.
We follow the Medline Plus link, a consumer health
service of the National Library of
Medicine.
While this displays
information concerning epinephrine injections,
there is data here
concerning possible
effects the use of the drug
may cause.
Under the detailed summary, “Toxline” can display citations for some journal articles indexed in Pubmed on epinephrine.
PubChem provides detailed information
on the chemical structure of the drug.
This is a resource which
searches across all government
agencies.
Under additional
resources we follow a link to
USASearch.gov
There is also a link
to Drugs@FDA.
This link includes dosage
forms for the official drug,
label information, and approval
history, letters,
reviews, and related
documents.
