Office in the art of telecommunitations, the project tackles

the necessity of bringing different types of lighting in response to

the diversity of work spaces induced by the program. Besides, the

importance of scale as well as the necessity of cost effectiveness

and profitability generates the creation of a dense construction that

makes lighting a difficult point.

Thus, the programmatic variation stems from our reflecting on

the influence of lighting, allowing for the workspaces to be defined

and hierarchized.

Optimizing the use of the available lighting, the project controls

the light coming from the roof and from the facade.

The creation of patios, whose geometry evolves according to

the floors, relies on the lighting’s capacity to organize space and

give it direction, thus creating different lighting conditions for work.

The system enables the creation of as many spaces organised in an

impersonal hierarchy as of group or personal spaces with diffused

light.

To bring the light in deeper and welcome the general public,

the lower floors are endowed with a higher ceiling than the upper

floors.

The depth of working spaces varies according to which way

the façades are oriented, according to the immediate context and

to the sun’s path.

Blinds, whose size depends on the floor and façade on which

they are installed, underline the expression of the building. The slabs’

edges are cut on a slant thus bringinf in light, finesse and gracefulness.

Bureau dans l’art de la télécommunication, le projet se

confronte à la nécessité d’apporter différents types de lumière

nécessaires à la variété d’espace de travail d’un tel programme.

Par ailleurs l’échelle importante d’un tel projet ainsi que sa nécessité

de rentabilité oblige la création d’un bâtiment dense où l’apport de

lumière est difficile à effectuer.

Ainsi, cette variété programmatique est crée par le biais d’une

réflexion sur l’influence de la lumière dans l’espace de travail afin de

définir et de hiérachiser les espaces.

Optimisant l’utilisation de l’éclairage à disposition, le projet

contrôle l’apport de lumière depuis le toit et depuis la façade.

En utilisant un système de patio se modifiant avec les étages,

il joue sur la capacité de la lumière à hiérachiser et à donner une

direction à l’espace, apportant ainsi différentes conditions lumineuses

de travail. Le système permet tout autant la création d’espaces très

hiérarchisés et impersonnels que d’espaces de groupe ou encore

d’espaces intimes à la lumière diffuse.

Pour amener la lumière plus profondement et accueillir le

publique, les étages du bas sont les plus hauts.

La profondeur des espaces de travail est différente selon

l’orientation des façades afin de répondre aux différences dues au

contexte ainsi qu’à la course solaire.

Des brises soleils de tailles différentes selon les façades et

l’étage donnent l’expression du bâtiment. Le bout des dalles est

coupé par un biais apportant lumière, finesse et legerté.

II« Mix Building » : housing, office, tourisme

Programme : Logements, bureaux, musée, restaurants,

embarcadaire, complexe sportif, crèche.

Site : Sur la rive Sud du Lac Léman, Ripaille manque d’identité

de part un manque d’organisation spaciale et visuelle

Projet : Le projet opère comme un pôle d’articulation du

territoire : cherchant alors à rassembler plutôt qu’à segmenter.

Sa forme circulaire permet d’accueillir tout les flux actuels ou

futurs. La façade convexe préserve le paysage en permettant

d’expérimenter la côte sans la confrontation que procurerait une

façade droite.

Le site étant entouré d’un environnement remarquable,

une promenade cadrant les différents paysages est mise en

place autour de la marina centrale. Elle permet ainsi d’exploiter

pleinement le potentiel du lac, de la presque’île, du parc, et de

la cour. Par l’alternance de la nature et du paysage intérieur très

minéral, un dialogue est créé entre bâtit et naturel.

Par essence, le changement d’orientation dans un cercle

se fait de manière progressive. De la même manière, une trame

très forte d’espace servants et servis permet d’apporter la flexibilité

nécessaire à une adaptabilité progressive des logements au

paysage. Un système de doubles hauteurs et de jardins d’hiver à

dimensions variables permet d’optimiser l’apport de lumière selon

les orientations et de proposer des logements spécifiques à leurs

environnements.

La profondeur des brises soleil diffère selon l’orientation

et donne ainsi l’expression d’horizontalité d’un bâtiment aux

ambitions paysagères.

Program : Housing, office, museum, restaurant, marina, sport

center, nursery.

Site : On the shores of Lake Geneva, Ripaille suffers of a lack

of identity due to a lack of spatial and visual organisation.

Project: The project operates as a pole articulating the

territory : trying to gather rather than segment. Its circular shape

allows to welcome all the current and futur flux. The convex facade

preserves the landscape allowing to experiment the shore without

the usual confrontation that would procure a straight facade.

The site being surrounded by a remarquable environnement,

a promenade framing the different landscapes is created around

the central marina. Allowing to fully exploit the potential of the

lake, the peninsular, the park and the courtyard. Alterning the

nature and the very mineral interior landscape, a dialogue is

created between the built and the natural.

In essence, the shift in a circle is made gradually. Similarly,

a very strong servants and served space frame allows to provide

the flexibility necessary for progressive housing adaptability

to the landscape. A system of double heights and terraces of

variable dimensions optimizes the supply of light according to the

orientations and propose specific housing for their environments.

The depth of sunshades varies according to the way

the façades are oriented and underlining the expression of a

horizontal building with landscaping ambitions.

III« House of Books » : From the shadow to the light

Every year, the abandonment of many industrial buildings

causes their rehabilitations .

This project is rooted in the robust structure of the old grain silos.

Two principles guided its conception. The first element is the diverging

need of light between human beings and books.

The second key driver is the current way books are being

perceived by society. At the age of digitalisation, Books almost hold

a sacred image. That is why we want to showcase them in their

temple, the library.

Thus the project site the “book world” in the heart of the Library,

whose density is permitted by the use of mobile archives.

Set apart by empty space, the mass of knowledge is protected

by a principle of layering. The “ human world “ cover the archives and

form around it. Rather than creating an opaque screen enclosing the

books, the reading spaces function as a facade filtering light through

the depth. The reading spaces are created by the old concrete walls

which orientate the space inwards and outwards.

A second wood structure is used within the concrete silos and

creates the horizontal links.

This construction protects the mass of books while making them

visible from anywhere in the project as well as from outside. The

reader can experience the ballet created by the mobile archives

in motion.

Chaque années, l’abandon de nombreux bâtiments industriels

entraine leurs réabilitations.

Ce projet prend ses racines dans la structure forte d’anciens silos

à grain. Deux principes guident toute sa conception. Tout d’abord,

la condition de l’humain et du livre est différente de part leurs besoins

divergeant en lumière.

Par ailleurs, à l’époque de l’avènement des outils informatisés, les

livres gardent encore une grande valeur aux yeux de la société, on leur

attribue une dimension presque sacrée. C’est pourquoi, nous voulons les

montrer dans ce temple du livre qu’est la bibliothèque.

Ainsi le projet place au coeur de la bibliothèque le “monde des

livres”, dont la grande densité est permise par l’utilisation d’archives

mobiles.

Séparée par un vide, cette masse d’archive est protégée par un

principe de couche qui permet au “monde des humains” de la recouvrir

et de s’organiser autour de cette dernière. Plutôt que de créer un écran

opaque enfermant les livres, les espaces de lectures fonctionnent

comme une façade épaisse qui filtre la lumière dans la profondeur en

reprennant les voiles de béton des silos, s’orientant depuis l’intérieur vers

l’extérieur.

Une seconde structure en bois vient s’y greffer et créer les

horizontales absentes dans les silos.

Ce dispositif protège, tout en laissant visible cette masse de livres

depuis tous les points du projet ainsi que depuis l’extérieur. Le lecteur peut

ainsi expérimenter le ballet créé par les archives mobiles en mouvement.

« The slope, the water, the wall »Intership : private house

This project is set in a fictional environment established by this

workshop’s guidelines. Its conception was driven by its landscape’s

very specific facets.

The project arises from two key elements: the presence of a

slope and hot water spring.

The whole concept was designed with a minimalistic

approach, by taking advantage of the natural elements. As two

walls are required and sufficient to contain water in the presence of

a slope, the thermal baths were simply formed by using two walls. The

current is enabled by thicker walls. Taking advantage of this width,

programs appear in it in order to form showers, intimate bathrooms

or cloakrooms.

The layout of the pools allows an access to the inside walls

of the upper basin by the bath below, giving each bath some

autonomy, providing them with their own showers. Additionally, their

position, various heights, as well as the thickness of the walls offer

great privacy.

The flow of the spring fills the pools with hot water. Its flow is

managed by the simple geometry of the baths which overflow and

fill the baths below, creating an artificial river until the flow returns to

nature.

Ce projet se place dans une topographie fictive figé par

les conditions de l’atelier. De par un environnement fort le projet

cherche à exploiter un maximum le territoire.

Le projet part de deux constats : la présence de la pente et

d’une source d’eau chaude s’y écoulant. Dès lors, le projet s’incrit

dans une logique opportuniste minimaliste. Le principe est simple : il

suffit de deux murs posés contre une pente pour y retenir et contenir

l’eau. Ces deux murs sont donc la condition nécessaire et suffisante

à former les bassins des thermes et seront l’essence même du projet.

Opportuniste, la circulation se fait sur les murs qui s’élargissent pour

donner l’espace nécessaire au déplacement. Profitant de cette

largeur, des programmes s’y insèrent et forment ainsi des douches,

des bains plus intimes ou encore un vestiaire.

De part l’agencement des bassins, l’accès à l’intérieur des

murs du bassin supérieur se fait par le bassin du dessous, permettant

de procurer à chaque bassin une certaine autonomie en leur

procurant à chaqu’un des douches personnelles. De plus, leurs

positionnements, leurs différences de hauteur, et l’épaisseur des

murs permet de cacher chaque bassin aux regards des autres,

offrant ainsi une grande intimité.

Le flux de la source alimente les bassins en eau chaude. Son

débit est géré par la géométrie très simple des bassins qui débordent

et s’entre-alimentent jusqu’à se reverser dans la nature.

Located in the Parisien suburbs, the project is a private house of

medium size. Using the situation of the site, the entrance to the house

creates a series of open spaces forming the commun part of the

project. A massive oblique wall separates the private rooms from

the more public spaces. Thus, the contrast provides the necessary

housing privacy. Still taking advantage of the situation, some of them

lean against the neighbor built houses, creating a small introverted

courtyard.

Située en banlieux parisienne, le projet est une maison privée de taille

moyenne. Utilisant la situation du site, l’entrée de la maison engendre

une suite de pièces ouvertes constituant la partie publique du projet.

Un massif mur oblique reprennant la direction d’une des limites du

terrain sépare les pièces privées de l’espace plus publique. Ainsi

un contraste opère, assurant la nécessaire privacité du logement.

Prenant encore avantage de la situation, certaines d’entres elles

s’adossent au bâti voisin et créent ainsi une petite cour introvertie.

“ Ce projet part d’une envie : celle de suivre ses désirs… Quoi

de plus désirable que de progresser dans un environnement où nous

serions régis par nos envies ?

Des multitudes de hauteurs, de niveaux, de dimensions,

d’épaisseurs, de luminosités et de perspectives, c’est en cela que

consiste cet espace. Par endroit, le sol semble chercher à se fondre

avec le plafond, qui s’élève et s’échappe dans des hauteurs qui

sont à lui seul accessibles. En d’autre lieu, c’est le sol qui lui tourne

le dos. Tandis qu’en certains points leurs bras se joignent et ne

forment qu’un, liant ainsi ces deux parties indissociables et brisant

le fil discontinu de la ligne d’horizon. Cette ligne, dessinée par leurs

va et viens incessants, me laisse parfois entrevoir la lumière et parfois

m’occulte cette dernière. Ces rayons lumineux s’immiscent, jouent

entre les formes et s’étalent contre les murs.

Imposant sans être écrasant, ce lieu dégage une impression

de désordre ordonné qui semble régis par une loi qui échappe au

regard. L’impression que tout semble aller de soi sans pour autant

réellement savoir pourquoi. Cela rajoute à son mystère. Ce mystère

n’a rien de pesant, il m’accueille, me séduit, me pousse à découvrir,

à me laisser aller : ici rien n’est un fardeau, tout n’est que flânerie.

Les espaces se transforment sur mon chemin, et ceux qui étaient

la seconde d’avant l’objet de mes désirs, sont continuellement

remplacés par de nouveaux lieux repérés du coin de l’œil. Je suis là

mais je suis déjà ailleurs, peut être à l’angle, ou peut être déjà plus

loin encore…”

The table is based on the idea of a surface dug to

respond in a specific way to its functions : it has been

imagined for a market which wants to own customized

and unique objects. The answer that appeared was the

industrial use of milling. Thus, the product is presented on

an online platform on which the user can choose a size

for his table and its function by picking from a variety of

choices that he can place on the surface as he wants.

This process allows unique objects without any additional

price because it remains 3D files automatically sent to

a machine.
