CUT, FOLD AND DINETokyo, Japan

If viewed from one side only the people are seen, and in contrast, if viewed from the opposite side, only the food. Lighting also played a strong role in the design, as it was used to highlight the food in the center of the table

FLAT PACK MODEL This charette involved spatial and materialistic constraints. Using a single sheet of paper and simple cutting and folding, I designed a space for four to dine.

SUSTAINABLE MARKET Buffalo, NYThe featured design is for a market and theater space in downtown Buffalo, New York which takes into consider-ation sustainable design and the varying climate. The building and site are designed so that the South-East morning and mid-day sun angles will brighten the vendor spaces because it is the featured area in the building during that part of the day. The interior commercial space is lit with ambient light throughout the day, and artificial lighting in the evening. Runoff is directed off of the curved roofs towards channels along the interior which feed directly into a mechanism that produces a sheet of ice to form a screen. Additional runoff is collected via drainage channels and a pool at ground level is used to source an on-site irrigation system.

Energizing Tokyo

House of Cats & ClothesThe concept is based on a cat scratching post, with a central structure and multiple “floating” platforms. The client is a clothing designer who is passionate about her nine cats and wants the home to be as much theirs as it is hers.

Tokyo is a dense metropolis, with intertwining infrastructures and a high need for energy. By occupying discarded spacesthroughout the city with architecturalstructures which harness natural resources to produce energy, we could potentially generate enough energy to run the Tokyo Metro.
