The pedestrian tries to establish a limit as well as physical space qualification of a bathing area, and self-defined and characterized by fragmentation of local rock.

As a starting point for the exercise intervention, we see a strong territory by their physical and material side, and especially in all the relations he suffers with the environment. We are on the Estoril coastline. Erosive territory in his nature, given its direct confrontation with the sea, exposed to tides that vary in their altimtry for around 2.40m (z) coordinate. All this coast, appears to us still quite virgin, without human intervention, marked by deep and wide cuts in the rocks, which naturally form large basins and desirable public baths. The peculiar aspect of empowerment with the need for a reclassification of a pedestrian path, gave rise to the real character of architectural approach to the territory.

Page 3: PORTFOLIO

Currently all the Coastline is served by pedestrian paths, and so, the proposal tries to solve his non-existence in this particular site, where today people do not have another way to go and know the place better. The route starts in Carcavelos beach and extends to the neighboring village of “Parede”.

The baths include three distinct zones of bath, including an area of oceanic water, a mineral water and another of warm mineral water. Through the gaps in the coverage gets a good use of light to its interior, which makes the space acquires a more open character. One of the major factors in the design of the structure had to do with the height of it, because it is not intended to create any kind of visual obstacle between the road and the sea.

The intervention comes on the purpose of the discipline of rehabilitation (project IV) taught during the last year of arquitecture course. During the development work throughout the year the survey was made of much of the building, preparing it to chips built, contained in its characterization and conservation status of the "monte do Estoril" region, which served as a basis for future plan of safeguarding the Architectural heritage built. The practical exercise was based on the identification and future rehabilitation, of an arquitectural specimen that somehow help to characterize the “popular architecture” felt in Portugal, especially in this region, "Estoril coast" by the mid 40 / 50. The choice of built heritage to intervene held mainly with architectural features, exposure, and especially the existence of a large outdoor area, which gave the opportunity to study a new programmatic demand that should established a certain bridge to modernity, from his form / funcion meaning.

The project thus proposes a contribution of a social nature, dropping anchor to another cultural deprivation, lack of reading / knowledge.

The proposed reading room, comes stapled to the building through adeconstructed passage ramp in order to reflect light and release some levity to the seam between the pre existing and the new proposal. This same plane continues into the volume assuim contributing to the demarcation of the space and to server storage of books.

For the restoration of the pre existing building traditional techniques were used such as the use of pre stressed slabs, convenient treatment of the openings and placing a new floor. The entire area of coverage, the work of the eaves, stucco and would also be targeted for restoration.

For a more interactive space was created with the population more access, ajuzante the lot, the continuation of the volume itself.

Sports HallSanto António, São Tomé e Principe.

The sports pavilion project that proposes born about two programmatic constraints, in order to enhance and improve the conditions for the practice of various cultural traditions existing in the country. The first charge as a contribution infrastructure for sports, the second as a versatile element can accommodate different programs and uses for example, shows, events and conferences. The inclusion of the element in society will certainly bring a strong link between the younger population and sport.

The concept design attached to the sports hall is born the idea to recreate a space that could be lived on

The object is born "based" on a high plateau, working as stage, exacerbating the importance of the event and somehow connects it with the issue of sport as a "show". The deployment strategy of the program content is resolved by physical separation of three different sectors that make up the flag.

The tops are defined the two sectors corresponding traffic areas and spaces whether public and medical assistance. In the center there is the sports arena as a nerve center of the program.

The public sector is defined as a level 0, the reception area, ticket office, toilets and a lounge. In the first floor are the general sanitary facilities and a bar area.

The technical sector, located in the top contrary, is composed of three units, toilets and foyers, a zone and a first aid room exercises, these spaces also sub

Talasnal Village

Academic project - Fifth year Architecture

Moutain RetreatTalasnal, Serra da Lousã, Portugal

0 10 20 30 40 50 m

Based on the work of masters of recovery and rehabilitation of Serra da Lousã Schist Villages, the study proposes a retreat in the mountains, studied and conceptualized as a simple embodiment of a small home, fully aware of its territorial impact. The idea was aimed at the interpretation of a space that could be created using local resources, which consequently self sustain the approach. The project in its form and content, suggests a small retreat, designed in two different spaces and although its small size, (6x4) achieve through their equipment, a different set up and a new useful space. Enjoy the steep slopes of the hills and their existing use for agriculture, to consolidate its deployment. Its shape appears tied to their ruled and functional character, which is expressed through his own rational structure.
