The Goal: To design a mini golf course in groups of two.
Models and other physical items can be very pleasing to the eye. While another
student created a graphic of the site layout I created a physical model. This is the
typical 19th “win a free game” hole that you can find at a mini golf course.
Site Design: Mini Golf Course
Goal: To create a toy factory next to a
river. This project was given to us with
exact specifications that were
predetermined.
Architectural Graphics: Toy Factory
Design: Working with Monochrome
Goal: To study the use
of monochromatic
color using a 1” grid.
I decided to use a tree
on the edge of the
paper. This allows the
branches to bring the
eye to the trunk of the
tree. I used random
shades of green for
the background grid.
Design: Dorm Room for a Single Person
Goal: Create a dorm room specifically
designed for one person. Finding room
for a balcony was presented as an
optional addition. The kitchen/bathroom
core had specific dimensions we had to
work with.
Goal: To create a museum for a long
lost, now found, book written by
President Lincoln. I chose to represent
the site design with a model to show
the relationships to surrounding
buildings.
Design: Le pavilion d’Un
Goal: To create something using 500
identical items disregarding color.
The idea of using pipe cleaners to create a
tree came to me almost instantly. After
researching the idea I realized the natural
curve of pipe cleaners would fit the idea of
a bonsai tree.
Design: The 500 Project
Goal: To show structural design considerations of retaining walls and details.
Using AutoCAD for Architecture 2009 I put together four types of retaining walls on one
elevated grade to show the differences among them. I then took one of the four designs
and represented the idea of outdoor patio stairs using a “King-Stair” stair system.

Goal: To show five types of
foundation systems using different
specific components for each.
Using AutoCAD for Architecture
2009 I put together five types of
foundation systems. While using
traditional CMU and slab on grade
applications we also explored the
use of insulated concrete form.
I chose to show a brick ledge and
the floor joist being held in place by
anchor bolts set into the concrete.

Goal: To show the site plan of
the Comfort Inn being built
near the college.
This project allowed us to see
the production of the building
as well as draw the plans with
limited knowledge of
dimensions.
The experience gained from
being able to see a structure
built from the ground up while
working on the plans was very
valuable.

Design Studio II: Sin and VirtueGoal: Create a collage using one of the deadly sins and its opposite virtue. I used an
abstract form of a collage to detail patience and greed.
Design Studio II: MoMA
Goal: Design a modern art museum in the city of Williamsport, Pa while maintaining the
guidelines presented. The design includes a waterfall off of the roof which also
generates power for the structure while acting as an exhibit within.
Design Studio II: Sustainability CenterGoal: Design a sustainability training center located in Long Beach, Ca. The center was
designed using net-zero energy to eliminate its carbon footprint and utility costs. The
design of the structure was to stand out from the surrounding areas. I chose a futuristic
look to do so.
Design Studio III: Art Studio Goal: Design a sustainability art studio for one person. The studio is located on the
south side of Williamsport, PA. The presentation was to feature art created by the
occupant of the building. The art is located in the top right of the presentation.
Design Studio III: BrickStainableGoal: Design an office building using brick as the primary building material while
incorporating sustainability into the design. I chose a new approach while designing
the presentation boards for this project because it was to be self-presentable. The
design included sustainable features such as southern facing façade, louvers, light
shelves, photo-voltaics, etc.
Design Studio III: Loyal CareGoal: Design a sustainable community for the aging in Williamsport, PA. The
community was designed using various sustainable features including photo-voltaics,
low flow fixtures, and quickly renewable materials in the construction.
