Description:
These are examples of projects and drawings I did while in school. I used both hand drawing and computer rendering software for these, including 3DsMax, Revit, and Google SketchUp.

This circulation idea can be seen within the building as well. The glu-lam roof structure is supported by heavy timber columns on the outer wall of the building, leaving the interior space open. Theinterior space consists of two circular concrete panel walls that are not con-nected to the roof. This is to allow daylight to filter in to the assembly space. One wall is a per-fect circular wall, with the other wall forming an oval shape within it. These walls are to give the idea that one would be moving from a large, open space, to a smaller, quieter, intimate space. The spaces formed between these walls include the student chapels, the Eucharist Chapel, the

Baptistery, etc.

Site: Copley Square

Boston Marathon MuseumThe Boston Marathon Museum is a structure built to com-memorate the past, present, and future runners in the 26.2 mile race in Boston every year. The sit e for thsi projec is in Copley Square. The design criterion was to create a structure made from shipping containers. The reason from this was so that the structure is temporary and so it can be constructed and taken apart quickly.

In this design, a center interior space is created as a place where visitors can sit and enjoy both the Boston Mara-thon Museum and Boston at the same time. This open-air courtyard is the center of the museum. It serves as both the beginning and the end of the display area that surrounds it, and also as the connection between the Boston Mara-thon Museum and the marathon memorabilia.

The Travis McGee House The Travis McGee House is inspired by one of the most noticeable and beautiful character-istics of the Florida swamps, the cypress tree. The design is a vertical element that takes the occupant through the many different views of the swamp, ranging from the water to the canopy.

Each section of the Travis McGee house design allows the occupant to experience the lake water and the cypress trees at the same time, giving the opportunity to fully understand the beauty of the swamp eco-system. The twisting and overlapping of the rooms is to resemble the way the branches move around the trunk of the cypress trees.

Light Pavilion

The light pavilion project is a study of how light moves throughout the day, how it can force movement, create moods, or emphasize areas of a building just by allowing it to pierce the exterior of a structure. The concepts for the light pavilion are to create a conceptual curve. The light is used to portray a curve along the floor, while the walls made the visitor feel as though he or she were traveling along a curved path without actually straying from the main axis.
