Live Before You Die is a powerful, professional, and fun read that urges us to change our outlook on life as we approach

old age. Frans Human insists we should be as determined as ever to treat every day as an opportunity to achieve our goals rather than consider it a passage of time as we wait for death to arrive. With a no-nonsense approach, he provides us with easy lessons on how to eciently manage health, hygiene, social, and nancial concerns without having to rely on others for assistance. He applauds independence and persuades us to have a real purpose in life, and to discover new reasons to get out of bed each morning. Illustrated by a celebrated cartoonist, Live Before You Die is a source of entertainment as well as a guide. It’s a treasure worth keeping to constantly remind us that life should never be wasted. As Helen Keller said, “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.” And in the end, says Human, the choice is entirely ours.

W. A. Frans Human DCom holds a master’s degree in tax and a doctorate in commerce. After retiring as a

director and partner with an international rm of certied public accountants, he began a second career in the travel industry. Living in Pretoria in South Africa, the author is a golf enthusiast and is practically involved in social and charitable activities involving the aged and orphaned children. Human has published a number of poems in Afrikaans through the local church community.

Michael S. Montgomery

For a long time the news media in informal collusion with the Democratic Party has portrayed Republicans as dumb. They’ve glossed over or not reported gaffes and moronic statements by Democrats while magnifying those of Republicans.

Few people know of Al Gore’s historically ignorant 1998 observation about the Soviet Union: “The Soviets have always found the rubles to match our military escalation. We’re the ones with Gramm-Rudman. To assume that they’re the ones who would buckle is madness.”

Three years after Gore’s declaration, the Soviet Union crumbled like Barney Fife trying to pump four hundred pounds.

The book doesn’t aim to denigrate liberals. But it does intend to show liberals are just as likely to say inane things as conservatives, whether they’re slips of the tongue or promulgations of idiotic, lame-brained assertions.

Though some of Al Gore’s and Joe Biden’s misstatements in this book are amusing, the bulk are serious. They cover the ranting of radicals like Saul Alinsky and Bill Ayers; the inflated, overstated leftist burping by entertainment celebrities; the unadulterated slanted reporting of media anchors; and the many bonehead utterances of our elected leftist leaders.

It’s amazing how nauseatingly complimentary many in the news media can present despots who zealously hate the United States. Diane Sawyer did just that in a sugar-sweet profile of Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, asking him if it’s true he cries a lot..

“He answered. ..When I see on TV that some Americans, because of tornadoes or a hurricane, have lost their homes, I become sad.’” This tyrant would be in tears as he wiped Israel off the map.

A lthough very private, La Savane and Terres Basses are only approximately 15 minutes from Princess Julianna Airport on the Dutch Side and approximately 10 minutes from Marigot, the Capitol of the French Side. Princess Julianna is the second busiest airport in the Caribbean after San Juan, Puerto Rico. Direct flights to St. Martin are available from many United States cities including, among others, Atlanta, Charlotte, Philadelphia, Newark, Miami and New York.

If rented through a Travel Agency or the property manager for the house itself, La Savane rents for $7,500.00 a week in “high season” (December 15th – April 15th with the exception of the week before and after Christmas); $4,500.00 in “low season” (April 16th through December 14th). The house rents for $13,000.00 the week before and week after Christmas. If you rent it directly from us the rental is $5,200.00 per week in high season, $3,200.00 per week in low season, and $9,500.00 per week for the week before and after Christmas with a two week minimal rental for the Christmas weeks.

If you should have any interest in renting La Savane, or we can answer any questions you may have about the property or St. Martin please do not hesitate to contact me at (843) 727-6500. If you are unable to reach me you may contact my secretary Vickye Robinson at

(843) 727-6651.

As some of you may know Penny and Mike Eizenga and Mary Helen and I purchased a house, Villa La Savane, on the French side of the island of St. Martin.

T he house is located in Les Terres Basses, which is a semi-gated private community covering approximately 1,400 acres. Set apart from the main area of St. Martin, Terres Basses has been divided into approximately 300 residential lots and is bordered by the Caribbean Ocean on the north and west and Simpson Bay Lagoon on the south and east. Terres Basses is connected to the French and Dutch parts of the island by two narrow strips of land, making it very private.

L a Savane itself is two stories and is of the French Colonial style. The house is located on 2 ½ acres, and sits on a hillside with fabulous sunset views of the Caribbean Ocean. The property is very private, it is walled and entrance is obtained through an electrically operated gate.

L a Savane has four bedrooms, four and one-half baths, a large living room, a very comfortable TV room and a kitchen.

T hree of the bedrooms in the house have king size beds, and a private bath with shower and tub. The fourth bedroom has a queen size bed, with a private bathroom and shower. All the bedrooms are air conditioned.

T he kitchen is equipped with a stove, oven, microwave, refrigerator, freezer, ice maker, dishwasher, blender, toaster, coffee maker, and there is a propane barbeque grill for outdoor cooking.

T he television room is equipped with a TV, DVD, VCR and stereo tape/CD. The satellite TV service receives approximately 300 stations including many English language stations. The house also has wireless internet service.

T he swimming pool is 30ft x 15ft, has a spacious deck and a wonderful gazebo designed to maximize the great ocean view. There is also a sitting-sunbathing terrace located over the pool area on the second floor. The first floor has a wrap around porch with many private conversational areas. The house is very light, airy and open. Maid/laundry service is provided 6 days a week and is included in the rental price.

T he nearest beach, Plum Bay Beach, is approximately a 3 minute drive or 10 minute walk from the house. Bay Long Beach is just a bit further. Both beaches are very beautiful and uncrowded.

A mysterious woven metal artifact is found at

a paleontological dig in Africa. Mystified

experts, confounded by the impossible

timeline they get from traditional dating methods, call

upon a stubborn nineteen-year-old with a unique talent.

Matthew Turner’s gift is also his curse: Whenever he

touches an object, his awareness is flooded with the

thoughts and feelings of those who touched it before

him. It is a talent that many covet, some fear, and almost

no one understands. Despite being exploited as a child

and tormented by the unpleasant experiences imprinted

on him from the various items he has “read,” Matthew

agrees to travel from New York to the forests of Kenya.

There, threatened by unknown enemies and helped by a

beautiful but prickly ally who begins to understand his

strange ability, he journeys back in geological time to

make a discovery so shocking that it forces us to rewrite

the history of life on Earth.
