2008Urban Design (Universidad del Zulia) 1/1. La Carlota is a military airfield in Caracas, Venezuela. There is an urban plan to use this airport as public space instead. My team and I proposed a public space design that would integrate both sides of the city (North-South) that are divided by this void, through four dynamics of enjoying public space (Seeing, Walking, Being and Acting). We proposed a series of new "landmark" buildings that would be the focus points of this dynamics.

My proposal consisted on opening the space to the public and playing with the dynamics of indoor and outdoor spaces, with inviting and open shapes and by changing the dynamics of sidewalks and other urban elements. The project was a residential and commerce building.

2Maracaibo, Venezuela. The building consisted in a open penetrable ground floor, containing all the commercial activity mixed with public space. A residential block that on one façade hides from the public but on the other acts like a shop window making visible the domestic living. And last, an urban frame that reaffirms the idea of a penetrable open building.

2008 Architectural Project II (Universidad del Zulia) 3/3. The apartments are designed to maximize the space of domestic interaction, starting with the most public interaction (Kitchen/Living/Dining) to the most private (Bathroom/Bedroom). The building however plays with the public/private dynamics as the most private part of the apartment has a complete opening and the space is displayed almost like a shop window.

2009 Thesis Project (Universidad del Zulia) 1/4. The urban proposal is an Urban Patchwork that would suffice the needs for a new town in El Danto, Venezuela. The patchwork was manifested not only by uses of land but also by changing urban elements, such as vegetation, sidewalks, lighting, etc. The importance of a patchwork, is the lack of building materials and supplies in Venezuela, so this project would give alternatives to this particular situation.

2009 Thesis Project (Universidad del Zulia) 2/4. The concept of the house was based on constructive syncretism and progressive house growth, as a response for constructive and social needs in Venezuela. The house had to response also to extreme hot climate and sustainability factors like cost and domestic agriculture. I took the constructive syncretism concept and applied it to the dynamics of the house and how a space could transform from one to another according to the need.

2009 Thesis Project (Universidad del Zulia) 3/4. The house combines different constructive methods and materials, some low cost and some reused materials like wooden pallets. The materials are very noble and use little or no aesthetic treatment, as it decreases the final cost of the house.

2009 Thesis Project (Universidad del Zulia) 4/4. An important part of the house was introducing urban and domestic agriculture to the habitants of El Danto. In the urban plan I proposed extensive farming. In the house I proposed domestic agriculture for small scale production of vegetables or fruits.

2008 Social Housing Competition - Honorable Mention “Premio Eugenio Mendoza para la Vivienda” Distopía Lab Team (Caracas, Venezuela) 1/2. Sustainability in Venezuela is a complex issue, especially when one of the main problems is the high cost of sustainable technology, e.g. equipping a house with photovoltaic cells that can cost as much as the house itself. “Human Sustainability” is the way we approached this competition where we proposed a house built with used shipping containers, piled vertically maximize the space in such a densely populated area.

2011 Power Plant Control Room (Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela). This project had an initial challenge which was designing for a high risk seismic area. There were four pylons that were already in place (poured to rock level) and I proposed an inverted truss structure anchored to these pylons to reduce foundation costs.
2006 First Prize “Series Iconocomunicantes” Escuela de Fotografía Julio Vengoechea (Maracaibo, Venezuela). “the use of the image in detail as an expression of the senses, the technical side: such as lighting, framing, scale, composition; and the exploration of a very seen yet barely observed theme”. Panel of judges: Enrique Rivas, Albert Frangiéh & Mireya Ferrer. Open Photography Competition for Students.

2010 Distopía Lab workshop (Maracaibo, Venezuela) "300+" was a public space intervention that consisted on placing 300 yellow marks on Maracaibo's most famous city square as a way of criticizing the lack of public space and the privatization of current public spaces in the city. I was responsible for photographing the process and editing the pictures for architectural publications.
